I had my surgery back in march and I'm still so sick everyday. I struggle to get all my fluids and protein and vitamins in because I just get so sick. I wake up in the night constantly and dry heave non stop. I lost my job because I called out too much from being so sick all the time. I'm can only stomach aout five different types of food. Yes I've lost a lot of weight but I don't feel any better physically than I did before the surgery. I'm so deppressed all the time. I know I whine a lot. I just needed to vent and maybe get a reminder that it will pass and I'm not alone.

3 months out and I would think you would be doing much better. I'm almost 7 weeks out and have gotten over it all. I can drink faster, even medium size gulps. And I can eat all kinds of things. Maybe call your surgeon. Wait for a veteran to respond.

You should talk to your doctor. At three months I was a ball of energy and going, going, going. We're all different but I would encourage you to get checked out just in case.

You are not alone, the 1st 6 months are very hard for some people, maybe even the 1st year, but it IS worth it. Sorry you lost your job, I don't know what the laws are where you live, but I know that most employers have to give you 12 weeks of unpaid leave to care for yourself or family member with a serious health condition, its called FMLA. Maybe you should talk to an attorney about that and file for disparate treatment suit.

Anyway, enough of that, for me it was hard to keep stuff down, remember you are re-training yourself how to eat and drink. Sip your fluids, for protein water it down, maybe for your multi-vitamin switch over to kids chewables or gummy. It is frustrating at first, but it WILL get better, and soon your energy is gonna spike like you would'nt believe. Trust me, this is the best decision you could have made. I hope this helps even if its a little. Good luck with your continued success. Things will get better.

I know that you have had some strictures fixed and what not. But have they done blood work? To see if anything is causeing you to be so tired. Also can you talk to someone about your being depressed? That could be holding you back as well.

Call your surgeon, you shouldn't be getting sick so often.  Yes there are foods that won't agree with you but it shouldn't be most everything, just a few maybe.

My energy was through the roof at 3 months out and everything was going smoothly.

Have you been tested for a stricture?

Well, it should pass.  But what does your doctor say is causing you to be sick so much?  That's not really normal and is a sign that something might be wrong.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

I'm 8 months out and just now feeling normal.  I don't think we all are balls of energy 3 months out.

I did have a stricture with multiple dilations which slowed my recovery.   Even a couple months after that I felt weak and depressed.  I am just now able to tolerate more foods.

It's hard not to compare yourself to the quick healers. We aren't all like that.  That being said, please check in with your doctor.  I waited much too long to get my stricture fixed. (Not saying you have a stricture).
