treatment resistant depression?

Kelly, there are many types of depression and not all drugs work well for all types.  Would you just say a mild lingering depression?  From what I remember from my rotation in RN school in mental health, those with dysthymia (mild lingering depression, chronic) do not respond well to drugs.  The drugs work best for those who fall into a short time limited deep depression, acute.  Treating dysthymia is best with cognitive behavior therapy (talk therapy).   This is not to say drugs or alternative treatments won't ever work, it just might take a lot more trial and error to find the right one for them. That sounds like where you are and it's got to be so frustrating.  I'm sorry.  I hope some of the suggestions you got here from the other posters give you some new ideas.  Have you tried alternative treatments, like acupuncture?  I've not used it for depression, but I used it for other things and for me it really worked.

No, not a mild lingering depression.

It's like a low-grade depression almost all the time that sometimes gets worse, sometimes a whole lot worse.  The bad periods sometimes only last a short time, but this recent episode has lasted several months now.

I have not tried acupuncture.  Guess that's one more thing to think about.

Kelly,
I have Major Depressive Disorder along with Cyclic Dysthymia and that is exactly what you described: a low-grade depression almost all the time that sometimes gets worse to varying degrees.

A friend of mine is taking a supplement called MX Omega 3 Fish Oil. Have you heard this product before? As what i see right now, she's okay now. Better than previous months. I think the reason on why she's taking this because of an idea that omega 3 fish oil helps to lessen/decrease depression. Well, she's not dissapoint on taking that supplement.
