THESE are batwings that require surgery...
Lora,
Your arms look GREAT!!! Your before looks like my arms now, so seeing your after gives me hope of what my arms could look like if I can ever get the money together for PS. No more sweat glands or pit hair? What a great bonus!
What was your recovery from PS like? How long?

My arms were more painful that I expected based on what people on the PS had said, and hurt quite a bit for several weeks. Because my incision extended through my armpits, and the compression garment I purchased from the surgeon was rubbing the armpit and making the incision open up, I ended up just having to keep them wrapped with the Ace bandages that they were wrapped in right after surgery. I don't remember now exactly how long I had to keep the bandages on them, but it was probably around 2 months. Much longer than I expected. Even once the swelling subsided enough that I did not need them wrapped all the time, the swelling continuned off and on for several months after that.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Your arms look great!! I must say that bracchioplaasty was one of the best decisions ever for me. It made me feel human again. And in my not-so-humble opinion, scars are much better than wings. I

You are right, your wings were more impressive than mine are now
but this summer for some reason they bother me MORE than they bothered me last summer. Perhaps because last summer I was between 165 and 170 pounds, before dropping down to 146 in January, and even though I'm 155 this morning, I think a lot of the weight I lost came from my wings, and when I regained, it did not go back to the wings.
Being a high school teacher in arizona (short sleeves are really mandatory here in this state) I have become conscious of the fact that if I write anything on the white board, my bat wings are likely to give me a black eye.
Luckily most teenagers thinnk of teachers as decrepit ancient wrecks, so me being a wobbly disgusting skinbag isn't all that different from their normal expectations.
But I'm beginning to think that breast/arm might be in my self-pay future. I have to see a plastic surgeon perhaps this July, see what he/she says, try to get insurance to pay for it, and if they will, I might try to get it done during Fall Break. I think my self-perception will be much better if I can get rid of the wobbly gobbly arms.
I dont' worry about teh scars. If I have them, no big deal, and there's always a good chance that after about a year, they'll be mostly invisible. I have magic skin that heals and doesn't scar except for rarely.
