some stuff to know about protein
But, as you know I am RH and limit my carbs. And since I do try to stay low cal - My body is using some of the proteins to make sugars for the brain and muscles.
When we limit calories and carbs - body will turn to proteins to make up for the difference.
And if you do not provide it with enough proteins - then it will start using your own muscles for fuel.
That's why - most likely we may need extra proteins when we are limiting calories and try to work out... If we do not - our metabolism may slow down as we are losing muscles as fuel

Add a protein shake or protein bar - I've been loving protein bars lately because they are so handly to grab and take with me when I go somewhere.

And I started on the ferrous fumerate back in Aug of last year and my doctor is pleased on how it's made my iron levels go up. So it's obviously being absorbed and working, so I'll stick with what I'm doing and the FF tabs. I had blood work done last Dec and he said it's working and making my levels go up, yay!
Thanks for your help Kelly!
Some protein bars are gross. I go to Vitamin Shoppe, and they sell a whole bunch of different ones individually. You can also buy them there by the box, but I just buy one of a whole bunch of different ones to see what I like.
Atkins has a chocolate chip granola bar flavor one that tastes just like a regular chocolate chip granola bar. I think it has 17 grams of protein, if I remember correctly. I don't recall how much sugar, but not much.
You gotta read the labels, though, because some have lots of sugar and some don't even have much protein.
Luna makes some really yummy ones. The lemon zest is my favorite. However, they are a bit lower in protein and a bit higher in sugar than I would really like. Not so high in sugar to make me dump and they have enough protein to make it worth eating them once in a while, to me anyway, but they aren't the best nutritionally. They are so yummy though.
Pure Protein has some that have something like 29 grams of protein. They are really filling, easily make a meal for me. I like the strawberry shortcake and blueberry crumbcake flavors. They do not really taste like cake, but they are made with real fruit and they are pretty tasty.

Thanks for all the great information you post. For the first 4 weeks I couldn't find protein that I liked. It was so scary to think about having even more health problems than before. Now, I'm onto Click and I add vanilla powder and milk. Whew! To all newbies it gets easier to get in the protein.
Milk is actually more sugar than proteins: 12 gr of sugar and only 8 gr of proteins.
Click - has a lot of caffeine and is does not have whey proteins... but most proteins is from a calcium caseinate - not really good protein source for us.
A lot of us add extra scoop of whey protein to our clicks... or have click and then have 1-2 shakes with whey proteins...
