An official decree: No more Chinese takeout for me!!!

I don’t know what it is about Chinese take-out. Perhaps it is the cooking method, maybe there’s some ingredients I don’t know about. I don’t know and I don’t care. All I know is that every time I eat it — and I do mean every time — I get deathly ill.

Whatever this phenomenon is seems to exclude PF Chang’s (thank GOD) but here I am, four hours after a company lunch meeting, deathly ill. And from what, you might ask? Some sort of sneaky sugary sauce? No. Food bogged down with grease? No, not that either! Steamed shrimp and veggies. Light soy/garlic sauce. That’s all.

It took 10 minutes to eat (and that’s mostly cuz I started feeling gross almost immediately and stopped) and we’re going on the 5th hour afterward and it STILL has not all come up (and I tried drinking some warm liquid to keep my fluids up and the pouch ain’t having that either).

Three years out and…sigh…I guess I should be thankful that my pouch still works but damn!

S’anyway…to make it official. From this day forth I swear off Chinese takeout! If you read of me eating it you hereby have my permission to give me a cyber-pimp slap!

Ugh…back to the bathroom…

Poor dear.  I hope you feel better soon.  Some lessons are really hard to learn.

Yeah...the thing that makes me angry is that it's not so much a lesson learned as it was a lesson affirmed. Basically the meeting was off-site and that was all that was available to eat so I went in hoping just this once it would be ok...but nope.

Ugh. Never again. I'd rather be starving than feel this way again!

I doubt that's it. This happens no matter what Chinese I get. Someone once suggested I might be sensitive to MSG. I dunno. But anything I get from Chinese takeout places (short of the soup) makes me deathly ill. Ugh!

I agree it could be the MSG. My SIL works for PFCB, Inc. and they do not use MSG in any of their dishes or any of their restaurants!

I have the same reaction eating Thai - no ryhme, no reason. Doesn't matter what I order, it just doesn't sit right.

You are not alone on this one. Chinese food is not my friend, heck we are not even remotely civil to each other anymore. If I stick with sashimi I am fine, add a little salad with ginger dressing I can even be upgraded to happy. But regular old run of the mill stuff - no thanks - the pouch aint having it!

Feel better!

I was thinking MSG's as well. You can ask for it MSG free around here. It's something that they add separately. Maybe try that once and see....just not anytime soon!!!!

Hope you feel better soon!
