Yes, I *do* only read certain posts (and here's why)

Ironically, sometimes those posts just annoy me (and I usually try to refrain from replying), but other times I do respond to those posts... it depends on the person's "attitude". If someone is really struggling with TRYING to eat right (and temporarily failing), that's one thing -- because it is REALLY HARD to vanquish those old eating demons, but is ESSENTIAL to do in order to be successful in the long run -- but if someone seems to be looking for permission to eat crap that's another.

Couldn't agree more.  I've become impatient with multiple posters that continue to whine and ***** about the same thing OVER and OVER and ask questions that have been answered one bazillion times.

I understand fears new post-ops go through (Will I be the only one to fail?, etc.).  Worrying does NOTHING IMO, following the RULES will get you (general you) in a better place than you (general you) started health wise.

I have blocked very infrequently on OH, lately it's becoming almost a necessity.  I rather not see the frustrating post than to say something the OP will take offense to, even if it is an OPINION from a vet.

I wub you Lora!

I'm one of those oddballs that scans posts to see if there are some with no replies. I'm that kid who tried to get everyone to talk to everyone at the sleepover party. 

As a further out, I too tend to stay away from really newbie-centric content, partially because I don't remember and partially because the arena of WLS is constantly changing. What was standard for me isn't necessarily for folks who are just having surgery.

My big schtick, if we want to call it that, is getting folks to look past food/the scale/getting skinny and looking at WHAT MADE YOU FAT. And yes, I do use the "f" word and no, I don't care if you don't like that. No offense, but it's a word and I use it.

These days between sporadic interwebz (my computer at home hates me) and a busy workload I don't get on nearly as much as I used to but I can honestly say I'll click on just about anyone's post. I will say clear subject lines and not writing huge blocks of text in ALL CAPS will exponentially increase the chances of me reading it. That is, if you care.

Now, another debate point. And this is not being egotistical, just wondering. I've seen posts that have sat unanswered a LONG time until I posted a response. Have any of you ever felt MORE inclined to respond to a post because someone you know/like has responded?

If someone I know/like has responded to a post, I might open it even if the thread title is not something that would otherwise have pulled me in.

I also scan for posts that have no responses.... and I respond if I have a response. Sometimes I open it and realize why it has no responses.

Clear subject lines is huge in my book, and the ENORMOUS PARAGRAPH THAT GOES ON FOREVER AND EVER In all caps or not is LESS likely to get a response.

Little mini paragraphs are so much easier on the brain

Yeah, there are occasional times when I will open a post just because I see that a particular person has responded and am curious to see what they have to say.

Sometimes I am intrigued by an ambiguous post title, but most of the time just skip them...

I, of course, open ANY post that appears to be mental health related...

Well, "it takes a village" and I am glad you are all here!!  Much thanks to all who are able to help!!  I am not a "vet" yet but it does help you people can be descriptive in their subject line.  For example,  "help!"  is not a good subject line.  Even I skip those!!!

So you don't read 99.999% of my posts because of my topics and not my grammer or content. SWEET!

Replying to resurrect/bump this because there has been at least one discussion in a post about vets not responding to posts by newbies and because I have had private discussions with 2 other people about the issue...  hopefully this will help epople understand that if a vet does not respond to your post it probably has NOTHING to do with you or you being new... it has to do with how we choose to try to best utilize our time here and how we choose to try to keep ourselves sane.
