I need exercise advice.
Up until now I really haven't been active at all but I'm ready to start exercising and wanted to get some advice. I just don't know where to start. I am joining a gym and they have different aerobics and cycling classes. I am thinking about doing the cycling. One of the gyms I am thinking about joining has water aerobics which I thought might be good. What are some good things to do at the start? How long should I be going? How often? Also I am not supposed to work out my core for some time so I need to avoid doing core exercises. Any advice on that?
Thanks!
Thanks!
The NUT I recently saw said we're to be working out 30 min a day but that can either be combined or broken up into chunks, depending on what you feel like. The one thing I would worry abou****er aerobics is make sure you start out at low intensity, as you may be using your abs more than you'd think. Good luck though!!

Totally! My cheap a-- won't pay for a gym but I've been walking at least 3 times a week. I'm off on Tuesdays so give me a call if you ever want to meet for a walk.

The first thing to do is find something you like so that you will stick with it. It's good to do a variety of things to keep your body from getting use to one thing and stop getting the benefits. Try to do something aerobic three times a week at least half an hour each time. Then you can add strength building in when you're ready, which you should do twice a week to keep your muscles and bones strong. You can start with simply walking, building up speed and distance. I personally hate the treadmill and would rather walk outside, but everyone has their preferences. I find the elliptical is much easier on my knees. When I started, I could only last 8 minutes on the elliptical. Dance classes are a lot of fun. I haven't tried the spin classes but hear they are really good. When you are ready for strength training, you might want to meet with a personal trainer so they can set you up with a routine. The main thing is to find something you like, then you will do it.
Good luck.

If you like dancing at all try a Zumba class. They may seem intimidating but if the teacher is good can be a lot of fun. They say find somthing you love. For me finding Zumba got mr exersicing 5 days a week and looking forward to it.
it's kind of like going clubbing where everyone knows the moves with no drunk boy/men interupting girls night out. LOL
