Elavil anyone try this for headaches and sleep ?

I used to take Elavil a loooong time ago (about ten years pre-wls)

I had issues with insomnia, and it was a godsend.

I've been thinking about asking my PCP for a new scrip for it

But lately my insomnia is tame, so I'm not sure that I want to ask for it yet.

I took Elavil about ten years ago for depression and sleep issues. It was absolutely wonderful, but the doc took me off of it because I was in my early thirties and childbearing age, and it can cause severe birth defects if you become pregnant while on it.

I thought it was one of the best things I'd ever taken for the depression and insomnia, but for some reason (I guess the birth defect thing) it isn't widely prescribed.

 It is also one of those drugs that usually cause severe weight gain.
