Happy Birthday to YOU!!!! i'm sorry your family forgot your special day. i think you should tell them that they can find their own dinner (and rides, if you are comfortable with that one) since you are taking your self out for your b'day!

Exactly!  They better put the thumb out and start hitching.  Would it be considered child neglect to let a 10 and 14 year old hitch hike??

My family didn't do anything for my b-day this year either.  They remembered though... is that better or worse?  Actually, DH asked if he could take me out to dinner -- I asked if we could do a movie instead -- he said sure, then backed out.  In the end, I took myself to the movies.

But, yeah, have some of the new Marguerita flavor crystal lite (yummy) & let calgon take you away!

Happy Birthday,
Laura

Where do you find that flavor of crystal light??  Sounds good.  At least then I could pretend!

They had it at Market Basket the last time I went grocery shopping.  I really like it -- nothing wrong with pretending.

lol....sorry but it probably would be neglect....and i know you wouldn't put your kids in harm's way but really. do they need a thump on the noggin???
as for the oldest one's tire, if he's old enough to drive (and enjoys the PRIVILEGE of driving), he's old enough to take care of it.
sounds like they are quite comfortable with you being their "go-to" gal. only YOU can change that one, my friend.
but i say, get them home, let THEM make their favorite sandwiches, eat on paper plates (no dishes for you to get stuck with). that can be supper. then you go out and celebrate YOU!!!!

LOL  You are right.  Mom does everything.  Don't we all though.  Sounds like a plan.

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I make cakes as a side biz, and every year on my birthday I never get a cake for myself.  I have been asked by my family if I made a cake.  Now, really, I do not want to make my own birthday cake..grrrr.   I would go home and tell them that dinner is up to them and go out catch a movie or something.  Maybe they'll get the hint louder when they are at the table with no food.
