What did you do about clothes while you were losing???

I shopped at Goodwill.  Another idea is to check out your local suppot group.  Sometimes they have clothing swaps.  The rapid size change is something that you'd think we would appreciate, but it made me anxious - I would just get "attached" to my new clothes and then had to cast them off and get new ones.

I thought I'd leveled off at about a 12 a few weeks ago, and then suddenly the 12's were too big and I was in an 8 on the bottoms.  Just skipped the 10's all together in most outfits.  Sigh...lol.  I guess things could be worse.

Like everyone else thrift stores, yard sales and occassionally I'd buy something at Catos or Walmart that was on the clearance rack.  As I got closer to my sister and mother's sizes I robbed their closets then gave it back to them.

I can get expensive if you buy full price.

thrift stores are my friend! 80 lbs lighter and down from a size 22 or 24 to a size 12 or 14 (some smaller size 16s as well). I bought a pair of American Eagle jeans (let's just say this is the first time ever I bought AE anything! Also, I've bought a few shirts and dresses from walmart and old navy

I <3 Goodwill!! I always found great pants and skirts there. Another thing that worked for me was to get pants and skirts without pockets so it was easy to sew up the sides to take them in. For belts, which can also be expensive, I drilled extra holes in them to make them last longer. I wore clothes as long as possible.

I just posted this on another thread!

*****

In the beginning I made my own alterations to the clothes I had, but I am not a professional seamstress, so it got to a point that I couldn't tighten them anymore without making it look distorted. That's when I started going to Savers. It is a great place to go clothes shopping until your weight finally stabilizes. The clothes are cheap enough for people like us that will "out shrink" it fast and if you take the time to look, you will find some very good pieces. Last week I picked up some brand NEW (with tags) Banana Republic pants, a Liz Claiborne Blouse and a GAP jacket for...$16 TOTAL.

I'm so proud of myself...I now own my very first pair of Banana Republic pants and didn't pay 1/4 of their regular price for them! That's what I call "smart shopping"!

I LOVE SAVERS!! lol I like American Eagle jeans and don't want to pay 50 bucks for jeans that will fit for a month or so, so I went to Savers today and found some American eagle jeans for 7 bucks! plus an aeropostale jeans and hoodie for 11 bucks combined! and not to mention that they have unused sandals for 5 dollars if you dont like used shoes. It's amazing how much your feet shrink as you lose weight!

My husband is not working and unemployment has run out....like others hgave said....goodwill and walmart worked for me!  I also "shopped" in my own closet....I had everything from size 22 to size 8.

I also wore my clothing until they were HUGE on me (like pants falling off huge)....that way I did not have to buy so many different sizes.  I also purchased exercise pants (which are stretchy) and t-shirts for casual wear as I could wear them through several sizes.

I wore them until they were falling off. I'd get all my clothes from the thrift store when they had $5 bag sales. I never bought my current size or the next size down - I always bought 2 sizes down, and never too many of one size. I found when the size I was in got too baggy I had already bypassed the next size or two down!

I'm probably in the size I'll be in for a while now - I can't imagine I'd get smaller than a 2/4 - and I STILL get the majority of my clothes at the thrift store! I get good stuff for next to nothing. I probably go once a week, or twice if I see something outside that calls me.

I buy things on ebay, mostly INC brand. I also shop when there is a sale at Fashion Bug. Pants I have to try on but I know most of my brands and corresponding sizes and look on ebay.
