but i was fixed, this isn't fair!
had tubligation july 3,2008. had gastric bypass oct. 21, 2009. am now 19 and a half weeks pregnant! i had lost 120 but just weighed at dr. and have gained 8. i want to scream. it is not fair, i made sure i was fixed first and now this. am i gonna have to have a revision? does my insurance even cover that? will my baby be ok?
Tubal ligation is only getting the tubes "tied" ..all your parts are still there but just sort of blocked off. Your doctor will know what to do and I'm pretty sure your gastric bypass won't have to be reversed, people have accidently gotten pregnant at 5 months out and delivered a healthy baby. Your doc will know what to do about the ligation issue though. Your life isn't over just because you're pregnant..look at it this way, a new smiling face will enter the world and adore you =)

a total of 271 lbs lost!!
Congratulations! The little guy must really want to be here :)
You will be fine. Like someone else said, check out the pregnancy board. A lot of women have had babies and lost the excess weight and had no problems. You will have to make sure you take your supplements and work closely with your ob/gyn. I doubt you will need a revision. Just eat healthy and have a great pregnancy.

WLS 10/28/2002 Revision 7/23/2010
High Weight (2002) 240 Revision Weight (2010) 220 Current Weight 115.
I can't even imagine your shock. That happened to my sister after having her tubes tied, but not cauterized or anything. She has 3 boys 17, 12 and 3.
You should be fine. There is a pregnancy board on here and those women have more information than I do about it. I asked my surgeon about pregnancy after WLS because in a few years I want another baby. He said the only thing they watch for is that the baby is growing okay. I don't have to have a revision or anything. They just want to be sure the baby is getting the nutrients it needs since I don't eat or absorb nutrients like a normal person.
Those 8 pounds will come off after the baby is born. 8 pounds at 19 1/2 weeks isn't bad at all. I think at that point with my youngest I had gained close to 25. After this little one is born make sure to tell them to tie and burn those tubes. My sister had a partial hysterectomy after her youngest was born to ensure that it does not happen again.
I bet this is a huge shock for you. You and your little one will be fine though. Congratulations!

Here is some re assurance your baby will be ok. My friend had her first gastric bypass about 4years ago almost 5 and a month after got pregnant with her 2nd child. He is healthy and happy. She just had a revision done to her bypass 6 weeks ago and is NOW one month pregnant. As long as you do what the doctors say and follow up you can have a safe and sucessful pregnancy! Good luck hun
I totally get where you're coming from. I don't want to be pregnant again. Ever.
But now you are. And it seems to me it must have been meant to be because that baby overcame all the odds to come into existence.
I don't think you'll necessarily need a revision. Everyone I know who got preggers was about to lose the weight (a few even came out skinnier).
Your OB should know what to do (or who to consult with) to make sure you get the nutrients you need to grow a healthy baby. I know plenty of folks who have.
Congratulations. It may not seem like a blessing right now but I think it is. Take care of yourself.

I had a friend this happened to also. I can't imagine the shock you are going through, big hugs.
Many post-ops have babies and don't need a revision. You do need to follow a good eating program, post on the pregnancy after WLS board AND find a good OB/GYN along with working with your surgeon.
