I saw an add for jello protein in a magazine. I am thinking it is too good to be true as it has a protein blend. What are your thoughts?
If you make your own do you use unflavored protein powder?
Thanks.
Other Ingredients: Purified Water, PureProtein® Proprietary Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolate, Casein Protein Isolate, Hydrolyzed Collagenic Protein Isolate), Citrate, Carrageenan, Malic Acid, Natural Flavors, Branched Chain Amino Acids (Leucine, Isoleucine, Valine), Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium, FD&C Red #40

Given that a hunk of the protein is collagenic, I wouldn't bothter.
Yes, early out I did make my own with high-quality isolate. I did do unflavored, but then discovered that it worked with flavored as well (orange jello with vanilla protein = creamsicle, cherry jello with chocolate protein = black forest cake).

It's generally best to make your own product, as opposed to using many of the premade concoctions. I too use an unflavored whey isolate protein. I've mixed it with SF pudding, Crystal Lite, coffee, refried beans, sweet potato, etc. The only thing I've found that doesn't work well is to mix it with boiling water. I prepare the coffee, and in a seperate measuring cup, I add 9g of the protein to an oz of water. Mix slightly, and add slowly to your hot coffee. DAVE

There is no branded name, it's a generic. It's unflavored and has virutally no odor. It's the easiest protein to mix that I've found. Placing a Tbsp of protein in a glass of water and 99% of the powder dissoves without mixing. 1T has 9g protein and 35 calories. This is a whey isolate protein with no added vitamins or minerals--just whey isolate protein. I just also found a generic unflavored soy protein powder that I've just ordered. Some people who have Gout or are lactose intolerant have issues with soy. The whey isolate protein is noted on my personal web site, listed on my profile page. My surgeon often refers patients with protein issues to call me in regards to this product. DAVE

Not only does it have collagen protein, which is practically useless for us- It tastes like S**T!!
