DUMPING?
I have dumped 3 times, but it takes a lot of sugar to make it happen... more than 1/2 C of ice cream LOL... and I have never had it happen from carbs. The only serious dumping episode I had was after eating the filling of a small piece of Marie Callendar's pumpkin pie. I have gotten the early symptoms on several occasions, though. My dumping is pretty "textbook": I get very shaky, lightheaded, and nauseous.... my heart races, my face flushes and I get very warm... and then I get intestinal cramping.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I don't think that I dump, although I haven't really tried to pu**** to find out. There have been a couple of times where I ate something out of the norm for me (no sugar added raspberry jam, for one), got incredibly tired and had to sleep it off. It isn't too bad, but it is enough to make me be careful. That might be more of a blood sugar problem than it is dumping though.
I'm fairly sure I dump. The 2 episodes I had were on watermelon & mashed potatoes. I felt nauseated, heart racing out of my chest, anxiety, diarreah, head & neck hot but feeling freezing everywhere else, and just a desire to lay down & moan for 30 min.... happened each time about 15min after eating those 2 things. Granted, I'm fairly early out so I'm hoping this severe reaction won't be forever but who knows.....

I have the typical symptoms: weak in the knees, faint, racing heart rate, sweating, abdominal cramping & nausea.
I don't know how much sugar causes it as it has always been by accident - I don't eat refined carbs.
I also get a similiar feeling from greasy food.
My rule is nothing more than 9gm sugar per serving.
I also have reactive glycemia so I really watch it. (No refined carbs - white flour, white sugar, white potatoes, pasta, white rice, junk food or fast food.)

I've dumped once that I am sure of and probably once before that wasn't as bad. I accidentally bought regular Torani syrup instead of sugar free and I added some to my coffee. A little while later I didn't feel good but I rested a bit and felt better. A few days later I made a protein shake and I used 4 tablespoons of the syrup. I think 4 tablespoons has about 32 grams of sugar. When I used it in my coffee I had only put in one tablespoon. Anyway right after I finished it I started feeling terrible. I can't really describe my symptoms except that I felt like I wanted to crawl off somewhere and die. I remember hearing dumping described like that. I couldn't really move or do anything for about half an hour. I was just curled up on the recliner. Then I was able to get up and I went to the bathroom and threw up and I started to feel better. I immediately checked out the syrup and wasn't surprised to see that it has sugar in it.
I am glad to know even though I wasn't planning on having things with sugar in my eating anyway, this just solidifies that decision. I never want to experience that again.

I'm a dumper...not that I've tested the waters. I just have a very low tolerance for any sugars, fat, carbs. Gotta keep those numbers LOW!!!! I'm an under 6g for fat and sugar. Under 10g for carbs. Yes, it limits a lot of what I can eat, but I hate feeling awful.
I would describe the feeling by saying it feels like I have the flu. Nausea, dizziness, hot, cold, sweaty, stomach cramping, feeling like I need to lay down and sleep. Usually hits me pretty quick and lasts between 30 minutes to an hour and a half.

I've dumped twice. The first time I didn't even realize it was dumping, I only realized it after it happend a second time. For me it was lower abdominal pain and vomiting. I can't remember what triggered it the first time, cause at the time I thought it was my ulcer or a tummy bug so didn't put two and two together. The second time I had eaten a bunch of M&Ms and half of a protein bar... though I had M&Ms before and hadn't had any problems but it was my first time having a protein bar since surgery... so I'm not sure if it was the sugar alcohols from the protein bar or if it was actually the M&Ms after all.
