5 months out -- what to eat or try?

I am 5 months out and I am still only eating eggs, chicken and fish.  I do have a bite of other things (like green beans or some other sides) but only a bite.  i am still scared to try new things even though I have only dumped once and have been sick once.  I would love to try salad but just am not sure if I am ready for that yet.  What did you all eat at 5 months?

I'm 5 1/2 months and I eat pretty much everything. I seem to have an iron stomach, though I do watch my carbs since I have a mild dump response. I can only think of a few things that are currently ruled out like pasta and pancakes and pizza. When we go out, we split meals. I would not choose to waste my space with lettuce, but I have ordered cobb-salad type things with no lettuce. To me that's just as good. I eat a lot of all types of meat, fish, shrimp, vegetarian 'fake' meats, veggies, fruits, greek yogurt, peanut butter, low carb whole wheat tortillas (in place of buns for hamburgers and chicken patties, and for sandwiches), cheese. Honestly I eat pretty much everything, just in small amounts. Broaden your horizons!

Thank you -- that helps to know what others have been able to digest!

Try to introduce more cooked vegies with your protein before you do a lot of fresh stuff to see how you do. I will include a couple tbs with my meal. Although I'm not as far out as you, too much fresh stuff got me "going" a little too much, but my pouch did fine. I buy a bag of steamables, and will eat off that as long as I can stand to.  Today I did have a few cucumber slices topped with chipotle light laughing cow cheese....nummy!!

That sounds good -- I have taken a bite here and there of cooked veggies but now a lot of variety yet.  Cucumber sounds awesome.  Thank you!

Hello Kelly!

Congrats on your journey!

I started salads probably at 4+ months. Iceberg was (and still is) off limits and i fell in love with "butter lettuce". It's super soft and was gentle to my pouch. I added proteins (ham, cheese) to the mix to help round things out.

When I was early out and was ready to try something new, I would only introduce one item at a time. When I felt comfortable enough with my choices, I always ate in this order:

Protein
Veggies
Carbs

Good Luck!!!

Congrats back at you!  Thanks for advice on the butter lettuce.  I too loved Iceberg lettuce and would have been exactly what I would have tried.  I appreciate it!

I don't think that iceberg restriction is agreed upon by everyone since my dietition never mentioned it. But all kinds of cooked veggies are a good idea at this point as long as you can chew em up.

I eat spinach and dark green leafy salads..love them!  I crunch on raw carrots (chewed really well)...love them too!  I eat everything pretty much except for pasta and bread.  I have trouble with chicken that isn't moist and shredded.  Obviously I stay away from sweets.  I love to use ground turkey and other turkey products like turkey sausage etc...  I've eaten meatloaf, a meatball with spaghetti sauce, ham, pepperoni chips as a snack (turkey pepperoni, microwaved until crisp), I eat alot of chili (Hormel vegetarian or turkey is my favorite with some cheese in it)..those are some things I eat! I love to sautee up mushrooms, zucchini, sweet peppers, onions and garlic and eat those with some cheese on them. Yummy!!

I am almost 5 months out, and I eat ALMOST everything.
I stay away from: noodles, fried foods, fast food, breaded foods, rice, sugar and bread.

I eat lots of: grilled foods I also eat  Shrimp, chicken, hamburgers (extra lean), taco meat, lean pork chops, greek yogurt...

I only eat veggies and fruit  on occasion, only because I try to get my protein in first and I am usually full before I get to the veggies.

The only thing I have found that my stomach did not like was home made chicken strips... breading is a big no no for me.

Pick a day when you are home and try some different foods. Chew, chew, chew and see how it does. You never know until you try!
