How long can you store refried beans in the fridge?

Hello all!

I have a question, every now and then I will open up a can of fat free refried beans to have with my meal.  Since I only eat about a tbsp at a time I have a ton left over.  How long can you keep them in an air tight container in the fridge?  Do they freeze well?  I get so tired of throwing food away!  I don't want to eat them every day until they are gone either.  Silly question I know but thought I would ask.

Thanks!!

I have never tried to freeze them. I try to not keep food in the fridge for more than 5 days. Dr Oz says bacteria can start to collect after that.  Is it true? I don't know but He has always seemed credible to Me.

I don't eat anything stored more than three days. I really don't want to chance food poisoning right now.

beans will freeze fairly well, think about frozen dinners.  portion them to make it easier to manage later.  When you thaw them, be prepared to add some liquid, either water or stock.

I freeze them all the time using the 1/2 cup containers. I can't tell much of a difference when I re heat them.
