get away from the scales!!  I'm addicted to them and they are running my life!  I wake up every single morning thinking... "ok gotta pee and weigh before getting in the shower".  Well, I've been at the same weight for 3 days now...yep that's right a whole 3 days.  I immediately go into panic.  How could I not have lost in 3 days??  I'm not eating anything.  Then the reasonable side of my brain tells the other side to SHUT UP!!!  You are only 3 weeks out and you've lost 31 lbs....what is your problem???  I think I may be developing multi-personality disorder at this point.  Uhhhh......

Hi Tonya ...

I am just two years out (5/11/09) and I weigh myself everyday.  I think it keeps me in check.  I tried going to once a week, but found myself getting on every morning.  Again, I think it helps me stay honest.   I think it is very common.  I lost about 115 lbs within the first year and have maintained that loss.  Good luck to you.

You did great.  I hope that I can get those kind of results.  My doctor said because I had the lapband prior to not expect what a first time rny would get as far as results.  That is stuck in the back of my mind.  When I see it stay the same for 3 days, I start thinking...IS THIS IT??

Don't forget Tonya ... the numbers may not be changing but your body could still be... you could be loosing inches.  It took me a while to realize that .... the numbers were not moving but my clothes fit differently and my body changed.  Keep that in mind too!

LOL I'm the same way!  Try staying the same weight for 3 weeks straight.. frustrating! but regardless I still want to know I can't imagine not weighing myself everyday.  There are lots of people here though who swear by only weighing weekly or monthly.. the not knowing would drive me nuts though!  Everyone is different!

It drives me nuts too.  I've even got it figured out that if I weigh in the afternoon, I will weigh 2 lbs less in the morning.  I know CRAZY!

After one month of doing it alll the time and loosing only 14 lbs for the first month, I got my hubby to hide them no matter if I threaten him with death he is not to give them to me but once a month, so I wont fret or panice or get down on myself, its hard but it has to be done lol

Uh Oh, you are me!!!!  Everyone on this board that knows me will vouch for that statement.  This journey has been more miserable to me than enjoyable as a direct result of my obsession with the scales in my house.  I got to the point where I started weighing myself 3-4-5 times a day and still do that often.  Caution:  I stalled at 3 weeks for 2 weeks.  You WILL be fine your weight loss will start again!!    However, the further out you get the more and more the scale will torment you.   I say get a handle on it now if you can!  My NUT said that in losing phase we should only weigh once a week in maintenance we should weigh everyday with the understanding of what a normal fluctuation is.
The other issue for me:  I didn't yet have any comorbidities so weight and the number on the scale was my biggest indicator of how I was doing.  My advice in hindsight;  make a list of things that you want to accomplish the smaller you get and use those as your immediate and more important goals rather than using the scale.

Try to stay off the scale for at least a week.  Your body is likely in a resting period right now and you might not lose for a couple of weeks.  Don't freak out.  It is normal!

:)  Have a great day!
