i HATE IVs.
Sorry sweety, I had the same issue after my surgery. I ended up in the hospital many times and my IVs kept blowing. My hand is always thebest place to get stuck because I have small veins but even those were blowing after a day, They even had to go to my fingers it was very painful. If you know a good spot that usually work tell them.
I'm also a horrible "stick" and they do alot of digging. One thing that really helps is drinking lots of fluids. When you are well hydrated your veins kinda "pop up". Conversely, when dehydrated they are small and deep and hard to get into.
I'm having surgery in a week (plastics) and I am fluid loading for the few days preceeding my procedure.
Also keep your arms warm. Being cold (hospitals are cold, you arent in warm clothes and sometimes a little anxious) cause they veins to shrink also. Kinda like your rings fitting loser in cold weather and tighter from swelling in hot and humid weather.
Hope this helps.
