caffeine
I was a huge caffeine junky at one time. I switched to decaf coffee before surgery and now I don't have any caffeine at all. Last weekend we went camping and I only had caffeinated coffee in the motorhome so, I went with that. Within an hour I felt like I was running a marathon! My heart was racing, I was dizzy and short of breath. That feeling lasted for 3 hours. I was shocked at the reaction my body had.
That being said, my surgeon has no rule about caffeine at all.

My surgeon says no caffeine for the first 6 months, but for no reason other than it's a diuretic. Since we have such a hard time getting in enough fluids in the beginning, they discourage anything that will hinder us from getting at least 64 ounces.

I had to drink decaf for 3 months then my surgeon allowed caffiene as long as it didn't hurt my pouch. I am the Queen of coffee drinking, way more than necessary I know but it's my biggest vice since WLS.

I didn't drink caffeine for the first 6 months or so, but I did do decaff. Now, I mix half and half and have protein coffee every morning - I am a bear if I can't have it!!! I use Nectar Cappucinno, sugar free hazelnut creamer and coffee. Love it, love it, love it!!!
