Everything I know I learned from my GoWear...
Sike!
But I have begun wearing my GoWear Fit again. For those who don't know what that is...it's a contraption that you wear on your arm that shows you how many calories your body burns during the day, how much moderate and vigorous activity you get, measures your sleep patterns, etc.
Anyhoo...this has been enlightening, especially since I'm finding some of the most basic and traditional advice I've ever been given about calorie burning to be TRUE and newly helpful. Like:
Duh moment #1: If you move your body, it will burn more calories throughout the day than if you do not.
Last Saturday on my camping trip, I burned 3,300 calories (this is a new record for me. The last time I did that I'd walked six miles). The next day I did nothing and burned 2,800 (400 above my "do nothing all day" average).
Duh moment #2: Little things add up
I did 20 minutes of Zumba this morning. Went at it HARD for those 20 minutes. The GoWear sayeth...300 calories burned! WOOT! (I synced the thing to make sure I wasn't reading the display device wrong and it actually was 300 cals...I guess it takes a lot to move my flabby hips).
Duh moment #3: If you move more, you tend to get hungry
On Saturday I ate a LOT. Now had I not had my handy friend on I might have thought I was being a glutton. I wasn't using my activity as an excuse to eat. I ate at the times I always eat. I just noticed the ability to eat MORE (and I didn't eat until I was stuffed for once). If I'd not had my GoWear on I wouldn't have dreamt I burned as many calories that day as I did. But knowing that, I wasn't sweating the eating so much.
So anyway...just a few musings. I am going to put up a review of the GoWear on BF soon for anyone interested (I can't believe I've had this thing 2 years and haven't do that yet).

...and a reasonable size.
I attribute a lot of my "burn power" to the amount I weigh.

I completely agree! Saturday was a high day for me at 2900.... I was so excited. Heck if I added in the swimming I did it could have been much higher.
When I wear this thing I do so much better about moving more. I hope that keeps translating into lower body fat %'s even if I don't go lower on the scale.
P.S. Watch for the bodymedia one at Costco. I got mine for around $170. Completely worth it to me.

Who? Me or Kitten?
If it's me...I'm already there with ya! I lift weights and do Body Pump and if I could ever get rid of these batwings I have nice biceps and triceps.
No clue what my RMR is...but here lately I been burning hella calories. No weight loss. Figures.
