Where do you get your b12 injections?

I want to get b12 injections because I keep forgetting to take my vitamins. I no longer have insurance and don't know where to go. Google is giving me a ton of ads for weight loss clinics. Also I remember only needing to get them every three months. Is that correct? Is there a special dose?

As B-12 is a fairly mundane thing to write a prescription for, I would consider going to a flat rate place - CVS, Walgreens etc have them where you can see a NP or a PA and get a prescription. I got mine from my GP and got 100 cc's with 2 refills for the year. I do it myself with no issues.

Surgeon gave me a script.  I have a number of family and friends who are nurses and they are going to give it to me.

Oh, maybe I will give my surgeon a call and see if he can write a scropt for me. I thought about that. Until then I will continue to take it as I remember. I have tried everything. Pill boxes setting reminders on outlook and my phone. I suck at this. I really only remember in the morning or at night and if I change my routine slightly I forget.

If you can't remember you B12 then how do you remember your Calcium and Multi?  There are a number of reasons for doing B12 shots but forgetting to take your supplemnts is a pretty poor one.  Why have the surgery to get healthy only to screw yourself up for not doing your supplements?

Sorry to sound like a jerk but the simple fact is you need to take your stuff regardless of how forgetful you may be.

I take my multi in the morning and night. I often forget my calcium too since I cannot take it with in 2 hours of my multi. You are sounding like a pretty big jerk. I am trying to find a solution that works for me. Since I keep forgetting to take my b12 and even my calcium on a regular basis I am trying to find alternatives that work for me. I work 9-10 hours a day and have two small children and a soccer and softball schedule to keep up along with running my own side business. If you would read further down the post you would see that I am trying reminders. Obviously I know this is important or else I would not keep looking for ways to not forget.

Yes, I may have sounded like a witch but I was only asking for help.

What the heck??  This is not at all helpful or supportive and frankly it's just condescending and rude not to mention wrong.

My surgeon flat out says that he recommends B12 shots because more people don't remember to take it since it's an every other day supplement. Are you implying that my surgeon is giving "pretty poor advice" now?

I said nothing like that.  The better reason to take a B12 injection is that it is more readily absorbed than sublinguals and nasal sprays.

Do I take what surgeons say as law?  NOPE!

My surgeon says I can take 2 of my sons kiddie vits and Caltrate (Calcium Carbonate) Which IS THE WRONG things to take.  I would question the logic of taking a shot because people forget to take something every other day.  If you don't remember every other day are you telling me someone is more likely to remember to do it once or twice a month?  If the same reminders don't work on a daily basis then how affective are they going to be on a biweekly or monthly basis?

The fact is everyone should know what they are gtting into and commit to doing it.  Do we all make mistakes and forget from time to time? Yes we wouldn't be human if we didn't.  But as I said why go through this process only to jepordize your health by not taking your supplements. Ask around this board on the outcomes of forgetting to take your supplements and you will see that it really isn't something to play with and sometimes the blunt honest truth is what is needed.

Well, seeing as I can remember to take my b12 at least 1 time a week then I think 1 time a month would be a non issue. If I were not taking it at all or did not care enough to find a solution then your comment would apply.

I'll try not to be perceived as rude- because I'm really not.

If you have trouble taking your B12- why don't you take it with your multi?  If for some reason that doesn't work due to non-compatible meds then you have a problem.

These meds are for life.  You will have to take them forever, if you are forgetting, you have to learn how to remember- not find a way to avoid having to remember.

You do have to take your calcium, multi vite, iron, and others as you become deficient.  They won't give you injections for all of them.

I'll tell you what I do- I can only remember to take pills 2 x day.  I take them all together- if the absorption is less, so be it- at least I'm getting something.  I try to be a "rule follower" but at 8 years out it's the only way I've found to get them in.  If I forget the middle ones completely I'm getting nothing, this way I get something.

If you don't have insurance oral would be much cheaper than the injections.  Adding the cost of the med to the syringe and administration.

Good luck on finding a way that works.
