SURGERY DATE???????

Hi everyone....just wanted to get other's experience with getting a surgery date after you've been approved by your insurance carrier.

I got approved 6 days after submitting to insurance. I was STOKED. Now however, it's been over a week and I still haven't been given a surgery date. It's driving me BONKERS. I was told it may take up to THREE WEEKS to get scheduled. Has anyone else had this happen to them as well? Is this normal and I'm just being impatient??

As soon as the insurance gave the go ahead, I was scheduled, weird they would make you wait that long.  All I can think of is they are very busy.  Problem I had with that was when my Dr office did not schedule me for the surgery within 30 days of the other tests I had to have, they had to redo them at the hospital  ( doubled the cost)  because they had to be done in a 30 day time frame from my surgery, I was not happy at all!

it may depend on your doctor! i got my surgery date the day i had my appointment with my nut. i had just finished my 6 months of dieting and they scheduled a surgery date before getting approval from the insurance company. my surgery was on a monday and they didn't get approval from the insurance company until the wednesday right before! i think it really depends on the surgeon's office/hospital

It took a while after I was approved to get my date as well. I think about a month. Just check back every week or so until you hear something.

My surgeon is FANTASTIC! They sumbitted my paperwork to insurance on Thursday (April 8) afternoon before they left the office. I got a call from my insurance on Friday (April 9) morning around 10 A.M. to tell me I had been approved. I got approved by insurance in less than 24 hours and when I called to tell my surgeon that I had been approved, they made me an appointment to sign my consent forms and gave me a surgery date over the phone. My surgery will be on May 3. I am SO excited!!! I hope they give you a surgery date very soon! It will be a HUGE weight off of your shoulders! Keep us posted.

 Like you, my insurance only took 6 days too...but I was told a scheduler would call me wih a date in 5-10 business days.  Though I have a feeling it still might be months until I actually have the surgery.  I'm pretty sure my surgeons office is a very busy place..and I know I'm impatient...lol

I was just approved also, although it took my insurance 3 weeks.Now my Dr's office wants copies of my cardiac stress test I had about 6 months ago at the hospital.  It seems like when everything gets going something always pushes it back some. but hopefully i will get a date next week
