Are grapenuts bad?
Ok, so I have been eating a 1/4 cup of grapenuts with a carbmaster yogurt sometimes up to twice daily and I am wondering if it is alright? The serving size for the grapenuts is 1/2 and that contains 48 grams of carbs----so if I am low carb for the rest of the meals, is this guilty pleasure ok?
This cereal used to gross me out, and now is tastes so heavenly----all crunchy and good------

That's a LOT of carbs (and 200 calories) with VERY little protein (6g for the full 1/2C), but at least it is carbs from whole grains (and only 4 of them are from sugar, and 7 are fiber). It's not horrible, but it's also taking up space that you really need for protein right now. Once a day might be ok, but personally I would definitely not do it TWICE a day.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
YOU get to decide if it's okay or not =)
Only you know how many carbs you want to consume in a day, or if you are even going to track carbs.
There is nothing intrinsically wrong with Grape-Nuts. In fact, that sounds so good that I am gonna get some tomorrow to have with my yogurt. I've never even though of that - currently been in a shredded wheat phase myself.
Enjoy your crunchy goodness!!!!! =)

Have you tried Fiber One on your yogurt. It has lots of fiber, less carbs and a sweet taste to it.
Explaining that it tastes "heavenly" tells me you have a emotional (head) feeling for grapenuts- could be a "red light" signal. As morbidly obese we ate food that gave us some kind of emotional payback - not because it was nutritional or gave our body energy, health, etc.
Be mindful of your thoughts and WHY you are putting something in your mouth. Then choose and accept responsibility for consequences.
Only you can make those decisions and know if you are in control.
Best wishes.

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking in the back of my head that the obsession for this cereal was not going to be a good thing-----thankfully I am able to walk away from them at this point. I have only begun to understand this food addiction and I think that if I am always thinking about a specific food and counting the hours til I can eat it again then there is a problem-----.
Somedays this journey is so overwhelming and feels like an uphill battle----I know the health and quality of life I am gaining is better than the food and I am very grateful to those of you on here who speak the truth, in love and with empathy.
This will make for some good convo with my therapist this week, and I have made my intentions clear to the family that I am not eating grapenuts at this point.
Thanks again OH fam! SO glad we are in this together.
