THe OA meeting was interesting - I do plan to check out a couple of others over the next week or so. I have some background knowledge of 12 step programs but have never attended one.

The focus of OA is on the spiritual/emotional side of the addiction. I can see how discussion of various steps and principles would resonate....last night there was discussion of awareness and control issues. Both gave me significant food for thought.

I will know more next week after a couple more meetings.

No interest. I accept and am managing my addiction, and 12-step programs unfortunately are not generally in line with my religious beliefs.

I too appreciate your honesty!  I too find that I struggle with the very same addictions!  Nice to know that this IS Hard! Just taking it one day at a time!

Jupiter,
First off great to hear/read a post from you. Often wonder how you are doing. Our minds just never catch up and I doubt they ever will.

I fight the sugar monster more then I like, but some days I win it over. Other days not so much. I am trying hard to stay on track. I have a wedding coming up in July that I already bought my dress for. It is snugger then when we bought it.

I could get mad and scream but it is my doing.
Wishing you lots of luck to stay on track and know your not alone.

I bet you won't get nasty PMs about your post. Sounds so much like me (and I know lots of others)....but I quit putting it out there b/c I was a downer to some folks I guess.

Glad to see you back on here!

Be happy.

I dunno-- I don't besmirch others the right to their experiences-- and this is mine. I figure people need to know what they need to know-- and can chuck the rest out the window. Reality is that this experience is hard as hell for me, often. People should be prepared if that becomes their reality as well. I am not in the business of RNY sales, y'know?

12 step programs are theistic. I am not. That approach will not work for me, but I don't doubt it's very helpful for many people! People of that mindset should likely check it out!

My form of management is working. Just difficult at times so I thought I'd share the hard part so others don't feel alone..

This is an awesome post. Thanks for sharing.

Ive been spending years trying to come up with a new career. That one job...ya know, the one where you hear people speak of being excited to get up and go to work?

I thought, and thought about what I was good at, whats my passion?? Food. Thats what I know best really.

I started culinary school...trying to push my addiction off to other people. I can create the most decadent things, then feed them to other people and watch them savor it!
