Hey Shari!! I'm so glad you're still posting here. I was lurking a couple days ago and saw your 4 yrs out list of tips and that's what encouraged me to try to come by at least more often. :-) I'm doing pretty well, need to get better about tracking and making sure I don't eat in the middle of the night (sleep issues) but life is grand. How are you?  Looking amazing, I know.

Having RNY was probably the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Approx highest weight: ~350. Highest measured weight: 338. Surgery weight: 297. Lowest weight (for 5 minutes): 169. Current weight: 209. Goal weight: ??? - maybe 180-185, which was my maintenance weight before the regain.

Feeling particularly fit and healthy after a craptastic winter.  If I can keep my iron up, I plan to focus on fitness as the rest of my life turns to muck. ;) Little trick I learned from inmates.

The sleep issues do eventually right themselves. I now sleep pretty regularly, midnight to 6:45. Key for me is not to exercise late-- and to drink ridiculous amounts of full octane java all day apparently (I drink 96-120 oz a day, it's insane.) I also literally eat 700 calories within an hour of bedtime. I can suggest that for everyone, but it helps put me out.

Only tip I really have is "To thine own self be true." Even *that* is easier said than done.

Be well!

Writing endless grad projects, cleaning, and working out--- Zumba tonight, maybe a 45 minute video or a longer walk. Will burn 2700+ cals any way you slice it.

B: Cup of coffee with some Click (unimpressed)-- more coffee all day (usually 96 oz)
L: (3 pm) Some kind of big salad with a whole bag of spinach, plus asiago and tuna or maybe chicken salad
D: (10 pm) Massive taco salad with spicy meat, mushrooms, gruyere cheese, salsa, greek yogurt and crumbled protein chips

Snacks:
pint of mint chocolate chip Arctic Zero "ice cream"
8 oz chocolate cherry cheesecake pudding
rice cake with almond butter and fluff
a Chocolite bar
bag of popcorn
apple
bag of Fiber Gourmet Cheez-Its

As always, 1700 calories, one way or another. I tend to eat protein rich meals and higher carb/fiber snacks, which I find sustains my blood sugar and energy pretty well. Rather than fight my snacky nature, I try to use it to my advantage.

ETA: My protein/carb ratio (40% pro/30% carbs) was taxing the crap out of my kidneys so I had to lighten up a tad. While I don't strictly "count" anymore, I still tend to get about 130-150g protein in daily. Don't let words like "pudding" deceive you-- it's greek yogurt-based. But I no longer feel the need to cram protein in everywhere. My body fat's remarkably low, already.

It's super low-cal "sorta ice cream" (aka "frozen dessert"). It has something crazy like 32 calories per half cup. I can't speak for Shari, but the flavor on it (to me) is kinda weak but the beauty is you can put damn near anything on it and still come out ahead calories wise. I usually go for the chocolate flavored with some zero cal chocolate syrup and a tablespoon of melted peanut butter topped with fat free whippage. This amounts to about 150 calories of pure nominousness!!!!

They sell it at Whole Foods.

I'm almost 10 yrs out so my eating isn't what most newbies and recent post ops eat. I stll stick to protein forward or protein only meals, and luckily I get full fast so I don't tend to overeat-althought I'd love to once in a while - lol.

Breakfast: cup of lite yogurt and a piece of bacon
Mid morning snack: cheese stick or beef jerky
Lunch: heated up egg bake with melted cheese (left over from bkfst yesterday)
Dinner: salmon filet, steamed broccoli and a bite or two of salad w dressing.
Later Dinner (I work nights too): piece of beef jerky, cheese stick and maybe a handful of peanuts.
86 ounces of water a day (minimum) and my vits, and possibly a bite or two of chocolate.

I wouldn't call myself a recent post op (3 years post op) but I eat more than you do! I don't think your plan would raise any eyebrows here.

Good to know you Jen!
