Warning -- "Welless" Brand Liquid Vitamin D

I found out the hard way that the Welless brand of liquid Vitamin D is crap!  After taking it for only 4 days, I broke out in massive hives ALL over my body, and I mean ALL OVER!  The itching was uncontrollable!!!  I also had tightness in my chest, nausea / cramping in the lower abdomen, cold sweats, and I almost fainted in my doctor's office.  I even had to go to the ER because the tightness in my chest wasn't going away!!!  Both my doctor and the ER said I was having an allergic reaction to the liquid vitamin D and I was to discontinue taking that particular brand of vitamin.

It's been 6 days since I threw the crap out, and I'm still battling with hives and itching.  The hives are now centered on my waist, hands / palms / wrists, tops of my feet and my ankles.  And, to add insult to injury, I've gained 8 pounds because they put me on a week's worth of Prednisone!!!  How depressing!

I did some research on the 'Net and found that others who tried this brand of liquid Vitamin D had the same reactions to the stuff.  That made me feel a little better, because I had initially thought the symptoms were a result of me going back to work too early causing stress on my body.  But now I know ... it wasn't all in my head ... it WAS an allergic reaction.

Don't touch the stuff!!!  WELLESS -- stay away from it!

While I don't know a darn thing about how efficacious the Wellesse is, if it's the right type of vitamin D, etc. I really feel as though telling OTHERS to stay away from it because YOU are allergic is a bit over-dramatic. I think caution is in order, definitely, and I really really feel for you.

I did not tell everyone to avoid RNY when I ended up covered in hives.

Nor should everyone avoid peanuts because it can kill some people.

I just think that this is not a VALID reason to say the stuff is bad. It's bad for YOU, no doubt, and bad for anyone who is allergic, and it might BE bad for other reasons, but I wouldn't impugn a brand just because I had an allergic reaction. If everyone who took it was allergic, it wouldn't be on the market still..

I use the Wellesse brand of liquid calcium with added vitamin D and I like it.  I haven't had labs yet so I don't know how well it works but I find it much better than chewable calcium.
