Allergic Reaction to Liquid Vitamin D
Has anyone acted adversely to taking Vitamin D (liquid form)???
On Friday of last week, my surgeon told me my numbers were low in terms of my Vitamin D levels. They asked that I take 1000 IU of Vitamin D each day. So, that night, I started taking a liquid form. I was fine until Monday night when I started itching a little bit. I went to bed and woke up at 1:30am the next morning with these gigantic hives all over my body that itched like crazy. I took two allergy pills, got back to sleep by 5:30am, but then woke up again at 8:30am with the hives returned. I managed to get an appointment with my GP that morning and told him that, in addition to the hives, I had pressure in my chest when I tried to breath and I had cramping in my lower stomach. He told me to quit taking the liquid Vitamin D and to switch to a pill (of which I would then crush). He said that there must be something in the liquid form that I'm allergic to!!! Well, before I even left the GP's office, I broke out in cold sweats and almost fainted!!! He had to waft an ammonia stick under my nose a couple of times to bring me back to reality. It was kinda scary!
He prescribed Zyrtec (OTC), Zantac and an Epipen in the event that I had a more severe case of chest pain.
