I know I shouldnt' be BUT I am a slave to the scale.  It just helps me when I'm starving to know that I'm actually accomplishing something.  This will also be what drives me completely insane if I don't lose a week after the surgery!!  Anywhoo....I HAVE LOST 11 LBS!  I'm so excited.  I weighed 274 at my first nutrition class 2 weeks ago and now I'm at a slowly declining 263.  Excited beyong words and can't wait to watch it drop faster!  April 25th can't come fast enough!!

Stick to it and you'll definatly see the benifit! I lost 18 on my 2 week pre-op diet! Went from 279 to 261 on the day of surgery! Good for you to focus on the positives!

It's so nice to get on the scale and see it going the other way.  The only bad thing is that I messed up and told my husband that I had lost.  Now he says "Well see you can do it without having the surgery"!  Uhhhhhhhh.

It will work.  It's amazing.  I was dropping a pound a day!  I ended up losing 20 lbs.  I did so well I started questioning whether I needed the surgery.  I'm 5 weeks out and I'm doing amazing. No throwing up.  Nothing stuck.  I eat everything.  Eggs, chicken, pork, I even treated myself to one small slice of pizza (California Pizza Kitchen)  I just eat a lot less of it.  This is an amazing tool!  I love my RNY!  You'll do great!

Wow...you are doing great!  My doc says that I can't even try solid food until like week 7.  I think that is going to scare me to death!

Wow, 7 weeks.  I was on liquids week one, pureed on week two, soft foods week three and now I've been cleared for everything including  raw fruits and veggies.  I'm allowed crackers and toast, too.  I accidently ate some low-fat greek yogurt that was loaded with sugar.  Didn't even realize it had so much. Thankfully, I didn't dump.  I eat very little though  but I seem really satisfied and even while my family eats away, I'm eating what they eat just very little but it really seems enough for me.  I wish I would have done this 10 years ago!

I have to be on clear 1 week, full liquids 2 weeks, purees 2 weeks, soft foods 2 weeks, then regular food.  I think I'm going to be sick of liquids by then.

I must have missed something.  What is the pre-op diet?

My doctor requires a 2 week pre-op diet.  It is suppose to shrink my liver so that when they go in to do the surgery, it's moved out of the way.  I have to do 2 slim fast shakes and then a sensible meal at night.  Other than that, just liquids.
