Sometimes I want a reversal SO bad.

Hi also sending hugs. I do not know what you are going through because I have not yet had my surgery. I do know most people say they feel bad at the beginning but then things get better and the weight really starts to drop and most say they would do it again in a heartbeat. I hope things get better for you. Hang in there.

Actually, MOST people don't feel "bad" at the beginning.  The majority of people have relatively little trouble with eating early out as long as they are careful and follow the rules.   Too many people read the posts here from the minority who DO have trouble and need to reach out for help (the people who have no trouble have no reason to post) and then they assume that everyone has trouble, which simply is not true.

I felt the same way for the first 4 months after my surgery.  All I did was throw-up. I had two strictures that required scopes, couldn't eat, and just felt like crap!!  I cried all the time and was so frustrated.  My sister had the surgery 6 years earlier and said it was the harderst thing that she ever did and she had zero complications.  She is a bit of a wus so I thought how bad can it be.  OMG!! It is the hardest thing I have ever done both mentally and physically.  Hang in there and have faith! I'm almost a year out and do not regret the decision at all now.  I even ran an 8k race yesterday. I finally have the life I always wanted to have.  Please know that you are not alone.  I would talk to your doctor about the throwing up as that could be a stricture.

I know how you feel. I had surgery 4 weeks ago and some days I throw up all day!! I have lost 25lbs though. I just keep telling myself it will get better. I have noticed if something makes my sick once it makes me sick everytime I eat it. So I have learned to avoid some all together. Hang in there it will get better :)

Just a quick post KTharp - Sorry I didn't read all the posts....

It's not right to be sick "all the time".  If  you're following the food lists, and regiment and still getting sick, somethings up.  Tell your doc to solve the problem.

Prevacid helped me.  Long story, but although I didn't feel like I had symptoms of stomach acid, prevacid kept me from getting sick - yes, I've been there - sick on water, sick on vitamins, sick on protein shakes, sick on anything.  At one point I really did think I would eventually die from malnutrition because of the sick, sick, sick.

Magically, a few months out it went away.  I no longer take prevacid.  Usually now I only get sick if I disobey the rules - too much, too fast, etc...  Only once in a blue moon am I sick now without a reason I can state.

Talk to your doc about solving the sick problem - stick to the rules about food choices, chewing, liquids, timing, etc... and then KNOW that with time it will be so much better.

Soon, you'll be like me and WISHING your stomach was a little more sensitive to discourage eating something that's not a good choice.  :)

A reversal is an extremely complicated procedure and your doctor is unlikely to do it.   I understand why you would wish for one, though.  Just continue to hang in there and do thge best you can.  A year from now, this will just be a vague memory.

kt you poor dear.  HUGGZ!!!  I also wish for a reversal, but onlyn when I am watching TV commercials about food.  I actually miss food.  However, I bought a scale and seeing the scale smidge down everyday makes me feel a little better.  I know that in time, after I have learned to use my tool properly I will be able to eat regular food again, in MODERATION.  I do nt have the sickness issues that you are having.  But I agree witht the last poster that I would deman my surgeon figure out what the hell was making me so sick.  The only thing that makes me sick now is vitamins...Makes me very nauseaus.  Just thinking abt it.  But oh well.  Make him (the Doc) do his job.  I hope you feel better.  HUGGZ!!!

How long has this been going on? Have you talked to your doctor about it? This happened to me for a little while about a month after the surgery. Turns out I had a stricture.  Simple fix and I've been fine since. You really shouldn't be throwing up all the time. Your body's telling you something is wrong. Talk to your doctor now.

*hugs*

You'll make it through this..... I really like what someone said (Nik or Lora)..... it's totally okay to have a bad day.

Keep coming here for support, and knowing that you will get it. If someone says things you can't take, you might feel like blocking them for a while, but please consider un-blocking them periodically (like after a month or so) because honestly, there are a lot of people who have great wisdom on this site, but they, too, have bad days, and they also say things in a way that your tender feelings (by tender, I mean hormone ridden, this isn't a stab at YOU) may not be able to handle right now, but later, you may very well find they're pretty darn cool .... I speak only from my OWN experience here.... because I did that to help to cope in the beginning when lots of things rubbed me the wrong way.

You WILL get through this.
