I too have to complete the 6 month pre wm appt. medicare is my prime and medicaid is my secondary. My surgeon does not require me to lose any weight during my appointments. Had my fifth appt. last week.
Surg. says that I just need to lose about 5-7 pounds and I will do that during my pre op liquid diet week. I did wonder the same about "their seeing if".

Hmm. It's good to her that they don't require a specific weight loss. I guess I will just see how it goes. It sounds as long as a person doesn't gain weight, a person will be okay. Good luck to you on your path.

I had to do the 6 month diet too.  My pcp actually told me to be careful and not lose too much weight.  He's had patients be denied *because* they lost too much weight before surgery.

My surgeon did want 5-15lbs loss before surgery.  I met him the first time 2 weeks before my surgery date.  I did those 15lbs just because!

Good luck.  Really nobody but your pcp and surgeon can tell you how to handle this.

Congrats on starting your journey.
