Pre-ops...there IS no going back...

That’s the vibe I’m getting from board posts the last few days. And you know I can’t keep these things to myself.

Pre-ops:

So just in case you were ever wondering if you’re asking too many questions, you are not.

…or just in case you think something is a dumb question, it is not.

…or in case you think someone will bite your head off for asking this question yet AGAIN, take that risk

…or if you’re freaking out and are not sure if anyone cares…someone will

Because there is no going back after wls. Your body is changed FOREVER. Your life, as such, is changed forever.

So don’t give a DAMN what anyone thinks. Ask every question, have every freak out, read every article, friend every veteran, seek out every Facebook/Twitter group/Blog you can find. Discuss, discuss, discuss.

Yes, we “old timers" will get pissy about it from time to time but so what? This is your LIFE we’re talking about. And once you do this…there is no going back. So be sure. Ask questions. Get what you need.

Thanks Nik!  I sometimes feel like I'm repeating myself (and I often cut and paste some of my responses) to our newbies, but I'm so glad I have the opportunity to pay it forward and help them out......I remember how I was in the pre-surgery days and early post-op days....I thank God there were some patient veterans on here to help me out!

I'm here if anyone needs me!!

But ... But .... But ....  I thought it would just go away if I wished really hard, lol.

And in case THIS isn't said enough, THANK YOU to our loyal veterans who continue to answer our questions and hold our hands when we freak over what will later seem like stupid things.

Don't want to hijack the thread but I wanted to say good to see you back!  I've been wondering how you were doing.  :-)

Great Post!!!!!

I've been on a few forums on OH and seen the nastiness from vets about posting too many threads from one individual. I just shook my head. Everybody were just being so mean to this woman!

I do appreciate all the vets on the RNY forum because you all made us newbies feel so welcome to ask questions! You vets are appreciated!

Oh we have our moments...

I think what most people need to remember is that it's normal. I mean, think of it like that co-worker that is always asking you questions. Some days you feel more helpful and accommodating than others.

Usually we bubble up...***** and moan...the newer folks rail against us...we go to a corner and lick our wounds...the shiny happy people kick into overdrive, we get our bearings back and go back to being reasonable and rational people (unlike the crabby individuals we were when we flared up).

Once you go through the cycle a few times it actually gains entertainment value.
