Can handle sugar, but not white carbs???

OK...I don't understand why I dump on white carbs and not sugar.  For example; I can have a bite of ice cream, a cookie (I don't go over a bite or one of something), but if I have popcorn (like I did last night...know, I was bad) or a bite of pasta I dump.  At least I think it's dumping...shakey feeling, upset stomach, I don't vomit though.  I normally have no problem throwing up when something is stuck or I don't chew right.

So, this makes no sense to me, so can someone help??  Both sugar AND white carbs are refined, and white carbs turn to sugar, so why doesn't sugar bother me, but white carbs do??  I don't get it!

everyone reacts differently to different foods.  That is one of the reasons you should add new foods one at  a time.  Now you know that those foods should go on the 'I don't want that" list.

Sounds more like an intolerance

Also a single bite of cookie or ice cream won't make ME dump, and I am the champion of dumpers

If I eat an ENTIRE cookie, I will dump, but I CAN have a bite.... only problem is that I CAN'T have a bite... in that I can't just take one bite and give the cookie up..... they're one of my triggers and while I hate dumping, I think I'd eat a LOT more cookies if I didn't.

My suggestion....avoid ALL white carbs, sugar, popcorn, pasta.

Oh I have been avoiding them.  But yesterday was a bad day.  I gave into a few things while we were out running errands and getting our house ready for our move.  One REALLY BAD example...my husband went to DQ to get a blizzard and I asked him to get me a mini one...I just wanted a bite and was going to give the rest to our son.  I ended up eating 1/3 of it, and didn't have any problems.  However, we were all watching a movie last night and made popcorn...without thinking I ate some and got so sick.

So, that is where my question came from...why did the ice cream NOT bother me, but the popcorn did immediatly, when the popcorn turns to sugar (that was in the ice cream)?  I thought it was odd.

I don't dump on sweets unless I eat alot and on an empty stomach, but give me something greasy and forget about it. I get so sick I can't stand to even think about greasy food. I have a little frozen yogurt every now and then to try and satisfy my sweet tooth. I almost wished I dumped on sugar, then it would be easier to turn against it.

I imagine it's a hypoglycemia reaction.  You are taking in small bits of sugar, but are you taking in larger amounts of the white carbs that turn to sugar?  Try avoiding them when you can, or eating them with a fat and a protein to slow the absorption and conversion to sugar.

I'm kinda the same way - I can eat most candy bars (like a Reese's for example) - no problem (shaddap, food police!), but a bowl of cereal (even the healthy kind) will KILL ME! Crackers, too - yes, even the whole grain ones. So, I don't understand it, I just learn to respect the pouch!

I'm the same, though I have not had enough of the sweets or sugars to be 100% sure that I don't dump on them.... But most white carbs (can't have wheat) makes me sick!

Now, I can eat potatoes (mashed or baked) with protien powder and a little butter salt and pepper and be ok.... But add full fat cheese and I am miserable or Give me a handful of butter popcorn and I pay!

I wonder..... Which is worse..... White carbs or sugar? I think white carbs might be because we eat more of them, which equals more sugar. What do you think?
