3 weeks out today....scale says I gained 2 pounds......WHAT?!
I had my lap RNY on 3/15. I've been doing really well getting in my protein and water, and on March 31 I went back to the gym. I don't own a scale because I would make myself insane with it, so I decided to weigh myself there. I weighed again when I went tonight, and I was up exactly 2 pounds. How is that possible given the fact that I'm taking in about 600 calories a day?
Is it because I started exercising more? I know this is a process and there may be stalls but I didn't expect to see a GAIN this early out.
It's a water weight gain so relax
during my month 2 through month 12, every four weeks I went through a cycle.....
week 1 - lose like freaking crazy
week 2 - lose but not very much
week 3 - not lose a single ounce
week 4 - GAIN GAIN GAIN up to five or seven pounds
Then I'd be back to losing like freaking crazy, lose everything I gained, and a whole lot more

Thank you Lady Lithia!!! As you know, it messes with your head to go thru so much and not have the results you want (or any!).
It must have been so hard for you until you figured out your own weight loss pattern. I know I'm guilty of overanalyzing every little thing right now, because of the fear that I will somehow mess this up. These boards have meant so much to me!
I didn't lose an OUNCE from week 3 through week 8 ....THAT will mess with your head
Luckily I have a degree in statistics and I enjoy numbers and averages so I figured it out pretty quick......AFTER I started losing again.

I too had my surgery on 3/15 (YEAH!!)... and have followed a very similar line of weight loss/gain. So, you're not alone. And from what I'm understanding from others who have had it, it's completely normal - our bodies are still trying to find some semblance of 'balance' after the surgery... the weight loss will continue as long as we follow what our surgeons have told us.
Good luck!

Good luck!

stop weighing yourself. you will drive yourself mad with the up/down/up/same/down roller coaster that is the first 18 months of post-op life.
instead, commit at least for the first year to weighing only at the surgeon's office. you will save yourself a lot of misery.

Karen how have you been doing since the surgery? I had a rough start but I'm getting better. I started introducing new foods this week but everything I've had so far has been pouch approved lol.
Marilyn you are totally right! I did measure pre-op and I know I've lost inches.
After I saw the gain I told my boyfriend that maybe I was eating too much. He looked at me like I was crazy because as I said this I was measuring out my 1/2 cup of food like always. Yeah...lol.....maybe I'm nowhere near eating too much!! lol
Thanks guys...it means alot. :-)
