POLL: Would you rather be small or light?

Small hands down.  The world sees your physique but your weight is between you, the scale, and your medical records.

I have always been a lot heavier than I look.  A 3" taller size 8 friend was shocked that I could out weigh her by 13 lbs wearing a GAP 0/2 even though my weight is up right now.

Being compact in nature I never went over a 2x/ size 20w even just a meal away from 300 lbs.  I'll take this denser heavy package I'm in as long as I can look light even when I'm heavy.

Altough I am smaller than I was two years ago, I'm still fat. My goal is not to be skinny, but I would just like to not be fat anymore. Shopping is much better than before and I my knees don't hurt anymore. So in the meantime, I appreciate the smaller me cause Lord knows I'll never be light.

I would definately choose to be smaller!  As a matter of fact, I've pretty much been in that position since about 7 or 8 months post-op.  I lost fast, and was really happy where I was at size-wise)  What I didn't count on was that I would loose another 5 pounds over the course of the next few months but also another 2-3 dress sizes!  For me it really was all in amping up my activity levels from pretty active to very active.

However, I would also add for people who are still losing that you need to put things in perspective for you.  It's funny, while I've been shocked to wear a size 6 bottom (and even own a pair of 4s!), last week I went bridesmaid dress shopping because I am in a wedding and shocked everyone when a 10 barely zipped on me!  The thing is, I'm just truly big boned.  Without a shirt, you can clearly see the outline of my ribcage, and people who didn't know fat me have described me at 'tiny,' so what is small really?

I guess my point is, don't put too much stock in the numbers on the scale or even on the dress tags.  I think most of us (and Nik seems to be a great example) kind of figure out where we personally belong and then set our goals accordingly.  Furthermore, for me it really has become about the new lease on life do to things that I haven't felt comfortable doing or been able to do for years, so as long as I feel good there, I'm happy.

I just want to be smaller.  At my height I can be a size 10 (or maybe even smaller) and be darn close to 200 lbs.  I really don't mind the weight, I just want to be a nice size.  My goal is to be able to go in ANY store and be able to buy more than a purse!
