Exactly a year ago today I was sitting at the hospital stressing out, and praying that the decision I was about to make was right for me. My family was there with me, and I'm sure they were asking themselves the same question.

I weighed 291lbs, and I was happy! BUT...being only 23 I had high blood pressure, my knee hurt on occasion, I was very uncomfortable in my skin, and (the BIGGEST issue for me) I did not ovulate which meant no kids for me. My main reason for surgery was having kids, as most of you all know.

For the first month I HATED the decision I made having surgery! I wished I could turn the hands of time and change it. I was depressed, and wanted to eat like I used to, and I was overwhelmed by the amount of vitamins and water I had to take.....but then I got the hang of my routine and I started to think this gastric bypass thing was okay after all.

Fast foward ONE YEAR and I would do everything over and over again!!  I love my new life...I have made my personal goal of 170 (121lbs lost), my blood pressure is normal nowadays, I am very confident in myself, no achy pains, and the biggest acheivement of them all.........

I AM PREGNANT!!!!

I started ovulating about a month after surgery, and it was very hard not to make good use of my eggs every month. But we took precautions, and waited til it was 'legal' to have a baby!  God is so good, they told my husband that he was infertile, and now I sit here carrying his baby.

Gastric bypass made all my dreams come true, I recommend it to any and everybody!!

Thanks for reading!

Your post makes me want to cry.  I remember trying for 6 years to get pregnant and being told time and time again that it was me.  I didn't ovulate thanks to PCOS.  No matter how much Clomid, Metformin and Progesterone they gave me it wasn't happening.  Fastforward to 2009 and I got really sick.  I had some kind of stomach bug and was in the hospital for 6 days.  In that 6 days I lost 24 pounds.  Well, that little bit of weight loss stimulated me to ovulate and I ended up pregnant.  I remember that feeling of shock and awe.  I think I peed on 6 pregnancy tests those first few days.

Congratulations to you from the bottom of my heart on meeting not only your weight goal, but the most important one of them all, bringing a child into this world.  From the moment you find out you're pregnant you are a mom.  It is the most wonderful, frustrating and humbling experience I have ever had.  My daughter is 17 months old now and I wouldn't trade a second of it.

How are you feeling?  At 5 weeks I couldn't even tell other than the fact that my boobs felt like I had been punched in them lol.

Hi there! Thanks so much for the well wishes, hubby and I are over the moon!  Yeah at 5 weeks I am still feeling pretty normal. My boobs are EXTRA sore, and I pee more often. But the main thing is I am so TIRED!!!  Its crazy, I can get a full nights rest, and a hour after I wake up I need a nap! They say the nausea comes later so I am enjoying feeling great right now! LOL!!  Thanks again friend!  :)

I am soo excited for you! It must feel incredible to accomplish so much and have this added blessing of being pregnant. I relate to what you stated in the first paragraph. I just turned 30 and happy about so many things in my life and myself but Im concerned about how my weight will be eventually affecting my health more than it currently is. I just got my surgery date and its May 19!

You look great and keep up the good work and being an inspiration to us Newbies!
