I am transitioning right now from pureed to soft foods. At what stage can I make a flatbread/tortilla pizza?? I know I know. I need to wait and be careful and treat my pouch like a newborn. BUt i'm still wondering about this.

Flat bread will take a while to be able to tolerate. I am just over 6 months, and really can just now tolerate pita bread, raisin bread with peanut butter, and other forms of bread. I tried it early on and was miserable and finally threw it up. The breads are dense, they swell when you eat them, and in my opinion, not worth what it feels like early on. I still am very sparingly eating some pita pockets occasionally for lunch with chicken salad, shrimp salad or tuna salad. Even then, I usually can't finish a whole Mini pocket (which are really tiny)

I'm almost 9 months out and have just recently started eating a low carb mini pita pocket maybe twice a week. I made the mistake earlier on and tried to eat some bread and paid heavily for it, the bread started swelling up in my pouch and I spent the afternoon throwing up...you really might want to wait a while.

I would probably wait 'til on regular foods, not soft.  But you could try a small amount now, I guess, depending on what toppings you put on it.  Look for the low carb tortillas and make sure you're getting your protein in for the day.

I have been making a tortilla pizza for over a month now.  I only put really few ingredients on it, and a good bit of sauce to make sure it is super moist.  I use carb balance taco size tortillas and I cut them in half to make the pizza.  I usually can't eat the whole thing and I take it very slow.  But, I will say that after pureed foods and the like this pizza was one of the best tasting things ever.  I like to get the deli at my grocery store to cut a thick slice of chicken (quarter inch or so) and then I slice and cube it up very small to put on the pizza.  I try not to put any toppings that are not protein on the pizza cause i just dont have room.

hope this helps you.  enjoy the pizza when you make it :)

I'm three months out and I wouldn't dream of trying that yet, but everyone is different.  My pouch just doesn't like bread of any kind.  It sounds really good though.  I would say to take it slow and listen to your pouch.  If it doesn't feel right, then it probably isn't right now.  But, just because a food doesn't agree with you now doesn't mean it never will.
