When do vitamin deficiencies kick in?
I am trying to get all my vitamins in but I can barely keep down my water for the day. I HATE chewables so I ordered capsules but they aren't here yet. My question is when do vitamin deficiencies kick in? When am I supposed to worry about not getting enough vitamins and protein? I try SO HARD to get my vitamins and protein in but I haven't been able to yet. I throw up at the thought of protein shakes so I am getting a lot of protein by my food and am looking forward to when I can have protein bars.

I unfortunately can't answer your question...but sure that someone else on the boards will! :) All I know is that Vitamins are so important, so get them in any way that you can!! Good luck, I hope it gets easier for you.
I however wanted to say that I can't stand chewables either, but I have found that the Celebrate Vitamins are amazing! They taste like candy. I also purchased Bariatric Advantage, but would rather lick my shoe than to chew them up... (Except for the Raspberry Calcium Citrate chewies, they are delicious).

Depends on the vitamins.
The ASMBS says we can wait up to one month to start calcium and up to three months to start B12, though I'd only wait that long for B12 if you're sure your B12 was good to start with. You're early out. If you had no deficiencies before surgery, you're fine if you wait 'til you get your capsules. With many vitamins it's actually possible to go a LONG time before you develop deficiencies, though not so long with others. But eventually they will kick in and it can be really hard to correct them. Just do what you can right now. Your capsules should be there soon, right?
