Is it really worth it?
Since I've been approved for my surgery and now looking for my support system, I keep getting asked this question. Is it really going to be worth all you are going to go through? I keep telling them YES and that I'm excited...but in the back of my head I am thinking....is it really worth it? My heart and my jeans know beyond a doubt that I'm making the right decision. My head wants to pull me the other direction.

I love my new life!!!
I am four weeks postop. If you had asked me the first two weeks I would have said no. Now, a definite yes. I have NEVER lost weight and kept it off; and I'm currently 30 lbs down which is my lowest weight in YEARS....loose clothing is fantastic. I can only see good things to come. The pain was hard to deal with but it got better at ten days out and by the third week I was pain free and back on the treadmill. The food is a HUGE adjustment but you just do it - I've only had a few moments, once or twice, where I could feel myself slipping back into those old habits, and it was easy to talk myself out of it.
It's worth a healthier you, it's worth living longer, it's worth whatever that thing that you want to do but because of your weight ot health it is preventing you from doing. It's worth not hurting all the time(for me) my upper and lower back, my knees. Make a list of pros and cons and see how you feel after that. It may not be worth it to your support system, but when you have tried everything you know to try and it still didn't work that makes it worth something to you. Just my two cents.

The first few weeks were very difficult and the first few months hard - but would I do it again and do I think it was worth it? Absolutely! I have so much more energy and feel so much better. My high blood pressure resolved as did my sleep apnea. I can play with my son and do things with him that I couldn't before.
So worth it!
Hi, my name is Lisa, and i am 9 days post op. I must say,I had some doubts at first because of some negative comments i received from people. But I'm so happy that i stuck to my decision. Today was my first office visit after having the surgery. I started out before surgery 264lbs and day of surgery 259 then today 245lbs. Wow. i only lost 19 lbs and already feel better. This is only the beginning. My blood pressure remains low, to the point i do not take my meds everyday. I Believe this was enough reason to do the surgery for me. All i can say is that you go with your gut to what is good for you. You will make the right decision in knowing the pros surpass the cons of WLS. Gook Luck!

People that haven't gone through it, that aren't obese, and that don't have eating addictions don't understand. All they remember is the one or two stories they heard on the news or from friends of friends who knew someones friend that had complications. ..... THEY DON'T GET IT!
We can take the time and educate them on stats and percentages... But really, it's ALL up to you and if YOU are ready for it.
I've lost 120 lbs in a year, I'm so happy, active, and healthy. I make smarter eating choices not only because I have to, but because I WANT to.
Life has changed and all for the better! No words can really discribe it.
