Im Curious....
I started at 218 amd it was not until I had lost almost 50lbs that people really started commenting. Those that saw me every day said nothing until I was dlown nearly 80lbs!!! The only folks that noticed sooner were those that i wuld consider closer friends...so they were privy to more of the details.
It is funny how we think everyone is wathcing us...but in reality...most people are just living their own lives and not paying much attention to others!

I have a friend who is having the same surgery right now and she e-mailed me yesterday inquiring about when she would notice a difference. I told her that my pants were a little looser at about 2 weeks, I could really tell a difference in my clothes at about a month, people I am close to at work really started noticing about 2 months and other people started making comments once the scale showed a 50 lb loss - so this is pretty much in line with what I told her.
Some people think it's not polite to mention someone's weight, just like some people think it's not polite to ask how old someone is. They may notice but are just trying to be polite.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
My highest recorded weight was 335lbs, I was up to 350 lbs (not on paper though) it took me losing about 60lbs before people started to take notice. I mean, I was pretty big, so to loose 30-40lbs isnt that noticeable on me. Sometimes people just don't want to seem rude by telling you something, they may think you will get offended.
