That is the most ridiculous article I have ever read! It goes to show if you want to prove a point just pick anything, spend lots of money on a meaningless study, and get a major newspaper, website, or television station to make it a headline. LMAO!!!

I have a degree in statistics, and one of the mainstays of statistics is to KNOW that correlation does NOT equal causation! Just because there's a link doesn't mean it's CAUSED by it.

If you do a study of the humans at my work, the average age is probably 20 to 24....does that mean that working as a high school teacher MAKES people young? No..... there are other elements at work here (all those young people, for example)

Maybe they studied people at my grandma's church. That's all she talks about on Sundays is the food and the people- Shes likes to gossip and eat and is very overweight.

I wouldn't say church is the reason for her being overweight though-

I can only give an observation, but sometimes I think "church" people are overweight because eating becomes our vice - we don't usually drink, we don't usually smoke, we don't usually have affairs - so we eat - I mean, what's wrong with eating, right?  We have to eat to survive, right? WRONG!!!

Ok, oversimplification, but I have thought of this at times and do see this in some of the people around me and in my former self - it was just a big fat lie of an excuse - but it is a line of thought.

Don't think Church makes people fat - though it is hard to burn calories when you're sitting there thru a boring homily. I'm Catholic so we do have our own version of calisthenics: stand, sit, stand, sit, stand, kneel, stand, kneel, stand, walk, kneel, sit........ Do have to say Lent has thrown me for a doozy - knda hard to have meatless fridays when you don't like beans, tofu, fish, but can't have pasta. That basically leaves me turning into a mouse with so much cheese & eggs. I'm actually happy to be starting my 2 week liquid diet - now I don't have to choose between God and food, cause I can't eat anything!
