Time it takes to eat, and between drinking

I read somewhere that you need to take 15 minutes to eat a meal, not more and you need to wait 60 min to 90 min before drinking after a meal because water will push food through and stretch it making the stoma bigger. Any thoughts on this? This seems extreme.

My surgeon and his nuts say  this: meals should take between 15-30 minutes to eat. I must stop drinking 15 minutes before eating and I have to wait 45 minutes after eating to drink anything.

As we get further out from the surgery, if we find ourselves getting hungry too soon, we should wait longer after eating before drinking.

I am a VERY slow eater -- I always have been, so I needed to time myself and eat faster. I am a grazer and I need to stop that behavior.

I find it is easier to get more liquid in the further I am from surgery, so the waiting does not make it too difficult to get my liquids in.

My surgeon's rule is no drinking 30-45 minutes after eating. It takes me about 20 minutes to eat my measured amount of food.

My surgeon says 60 mins after eating before drinking.  I have been trying to practice that though I am still pre-op.

I was told to take no longer than 30 minutes to eat and not to drink for 30 minutes after a meal.

From about six months on the 30 minutes to eat hasn't been a problem. Since one year out I always wait two hours after eating to drink again. That manages my hunger well (pouch emptyness...whatever you want to call it).

Your mileage may vary.

My surgeon and NUT advised 30/30. Stop drinking 30 minutes before eating and do not drink 30 minutes after eating. Also 15-30 minutes to actually eat a meal so you feel full before overeating if you eat too fast.

I don't really time my meals but try not to gobble them up too fast but not to stretch them out forever, either.  I usually take 15, maybe 20 minutes I think.

I wait about half an hour to start drinking.  I'd never get enough fluids if I waited an hour or 90 minutes.  I eat about six times most days and there'd be no time for drinking.
