Poll for those who started with a BMI >50 and are done losing

::sigh:: this is one of those posts that make me feel like a loser and not in a good way.  I'm the same weight I was at about 1 year out and the weight loss basically stopped at about 10 months out. I'll be 2 years out on April 13.

Starting BMI was 53.7.
Current BMI, which is where my weight appears to have stabilized, is 28.6.
Lowest BMI - for literally 1 day - was 27.0.

I never made it to 25.0. :-(  So yeah, it's possible, but it may not happen even if you do everything in your power short of cutting off a limb to make it happen.

Having RNY was probably the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Approx highest weight: ~350. Highest measured weight: 338. Surgery weight: 297. Lowest weight (for 5 minutes): 169. Current weight: 209. Goal weight: ??? - maybe 180-185, which was my maintenance weight before the regain.

I'm so sorry this made you feel sad.  That was certainly not my intent (just as it is never the intent of the size 0 and size 2 folks to make ME feel sad about my size).

I told her that she might not ever get to "normal", but "overweight" (which is the side of the line between the two that I end up on most days) is still a hell of a lot better in terms of health, energy, and appearance than "super morbidly obese".  Right...?!?  Right.

Oh, I know you didn't intend to! It's only my own issues of course.  And yeah, part of the reason I need distance from OH from time to time is because I can't stop comparing myself to others and wishing I'd gotten "skinny" and wishing I could wear single-digit sizes on the bottom and just otherwise feeling like I don't measure up as a post-op. But yes, "overweight" is SO much better than "SMO" in like a million different ways. I wouldn't trade my RNY for ANYTHING.

I am right there with you.

Sometimes I get in a funk and need to get away from here for a while.  I still only rarely read ANY posts that appear to be about how small someone has gotten.  It's not that I don't want to help them celebrate or be supportive... it's just that it tweaks the "I'm never going to be a single-digit size" pain/disappointment inside me.  It's completely MY issue and I'm trying to work on it, but it is a slow process.

I went from a BMI of 51.3 to a BMI of 20.8. I was 5'3.5 though and "grew" 1.5 inches post-RNY to 5'5 bc of spine decompression, so that skews the BMI a bit. Using 5'5 as a constant height, it's a BMI of 48.9 to 20.8.
