Has anyone used their kitchen aid ice cream attachment to make protein ice cream? If so, how does it turn out? I am thinking about buying the attachment since I already have the mixer.

Yep, hubby got me one for my birthday and I love it. I started out making bigger batches in the beginning but now I just make single servings because the ice cream gets rock hard when you put it in the freezer. Fresh out of the ice cream maker, it comes out like soft serve and is delicious! I opted for the Kitchen Aid attachment because I didn't want another small appliance on my counter when I already had the mixer.

So how do you make the single servings? I'm not cleared for milk yet, so I will wait to buy it.

You make single servings the same way.  Just make a protein shake the way you normally would, but blend the heck out of it in a blender.  Also, I've been told you have to use at least 2% milk because obviously you need at least some milk fat to make ice cream.  Then just add slowly to the pre-frozen bowl.  You have soft serve protein ice cream in about 20 minutes.

I didn't know that kitchen aid had a ice cream maker attachment. Sounds interesting to me...tell me more.

I just went to the site, and it is only $99.00 I have 2 kitchen aids so this may be my mothers day request.  I am practical I am always looking for something for the house lol Yes I have even asked  for a carpet cleaner for Christmas one year.  (was very bummed not to receive it)

It looks really nice if you go to kitchenaid.com then click on the link for mixers you can watch a short video.

Hope that helps.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who asks for household items for Christmas and birthdays!  Past Christmas presents (by request) have been a pressure cooker, some expensive, heavy flannel sheets (twice!), my Kitchen Aid mixer, and a snowblower!

The skim milk is likely the problem.  Two percent works much better, because you need SOME fat for the proper consistency.
