At one month out I was still on Pureed food and did not add solid foods until 6 weeks.

I can tell you (from experience) that even if you COULD eat (which one month out isn't long enough) you're not likely going to like the way it makes you feel! I have more issues with bacon (even turkey bacon) than I do with BREAD! It's not pretty...

Yes, turkey sausage I can do most of the time, but there's just something about bacon (Probably that you can never "drain" the fat off well enough) that it NEVER sits well....  sigh, stinks because I LOVED bacon....

I just made some turkey bacon tonight, I chopped it up before cooking it and I had no problem whatsoever.  We had our surgery on the same day.  I made that with a tiny bit of eggbeaters.  Like I said it was fine.  As long as you chew chew chew like they say. :)

soft food ideas

apple sauce, no sugar added
cooked vegetables
blenderized fruits
mashed potatoes
soups
eggs
oatmeal
beans peas
lowfat cheeses
smooth lowfat peanut butter
crackers
cream of wheat/grits

No turkey bacon is not a soft food and neither is turkey sausage.  Right now stick to the oatmeal, egss cram of wheat/grits for breakfat.

Unless you can figure out some way to puree the sausage I wouldn't do it.  It needs to be mushy so you can give your new stomach time to heal.

Look at your stomach as a newborn stomach,  would you feed a baby such and such food.  If the answer is yes then you are okay.  Treat the stomach with kids gloves until it heals.

I had some for breakfast this morning and didn't have any problems. My nutritionist said it was fine as long as it was soft instead of crispy. I just broke it up into little bitty pieces and ate it with my eggs.

I'm amazed at how the diet differs from from one clinic to another. I did liquids only for a few days, unless you count deli meat as kind of a liquid. I think I had turkey bacon at 5 weeks post op. I waited until 6 weeks and ate beef filet. The only real thing I had a hard time with was about 4 and a half weeks out. I ate a small hamburger patty that was overcooked and some onions that were fried in butter. They actually hurt my stomach and didn't stay down. I had eaten hamburger before but it was cooked softer. I waited 2 weeks then had onions again but not in butter , this time they were cooked in food. At 7 weeks out I had 2 ounces of mongolian chicken from a local chinese place. It was medium hot, had onions, and was great. I guess it just depends on how Your stomach heals.
