Personally I like and use the IsoPure Low Carb Dutch Chocolate.  I start every day with a 16 oz, 2 scoop shake made with water.  It gives me 50 g of protein at a cost of pnly 3 g of carbs.  It is then very easy to get plenty of protein for the day with food.

In the past 5 months or so I've probably tried 20 different ones. I personally don't like any of the RTD ones. I can tolerate them, and I would drink them because I *had* to but I didn't enjoy them. For me the powders taste better. My favorite is BSN Lean Dessert but a couple of people said it was not the best choice. I have an appt with Nut on Monday and I will ask her about it. The BSN ones are delicious.

I've tried SEVERAL powders and RTD's. Here's a synopsis of the things I would ENJOY even without WLS:
Isopure's Orange Peach Smoothie (RTD)
About Time's Cinnamon Swirl and their chocolate powders
GNC's unflavored powder
Unjury's Chicken Soup

It would take forever to cover all of the different brands and products I've tried. I was lucky enough to get some free samples and also ordered sample packs when I could. Don't be mistaken that just because you enjoy one thing from a particular manufacturer that you will enjoy the others.
Take the time to search for sample packs and to ask anyone and everyone for free samples. I emailed numerous sellers and was surprised at the free items I got.
You might also want to try to get in touch with other WLS candidates/patients in your area to see if they will allow you to sample some of the things they already have. I make it a habit to share with a co-worker who is in the process of getting approved for WLS.
With regards to the RTD's, it's better to pay a few dollars for one and try it than to spend a few more dollars for a whole six-pack or case, even within the same product line from the same manufacturer. I LOVE Isopure's orange peach smoothie, but wasn't that crazy about the orange berry one. I didn't try the orange pomegranate as I'm not a pomegranate kind of girl :)
I could go on and on about the products I didn't like, but the products listed above are REALLY good, not just "tolerable".
