Carbonation DOES NOT stretch your pouch out.

I have not tried sodas after RNY, but I did pick up a drink something like Gatorade when i was on vacation and my pouch started hurting. I looked at the bottle and it said on the back it was carbonated, so no, I will be sure to look on anything I drink like that again.

Pain is not my friend and either is sodas.

But, i have seen on here some people do drink them.

I drink Diet Dr. Pepper!
I added mr. Dr. Pepper to my medical team :-)
No problems with the soda just good flavor, and I drink it slow maybe up to an hour to drink it.

I am preop and was told by my surgeon that I had to stop drinking pop. (I'm a yankee haha)  It was almost like someone was taking away my best friend.  I've always said that I was a "coke head" because I love, love, LOVE Diet Coke and could drink it all day long.  I gave it up 2 weeks ago and it's getting better. Luckily, I do like drinking water and crystal light though.    One of my biggest fears about after surgery is the fact that I can't drink as much.  I always have a bottle of water with me or a bottle of vitamin water zero and I can chug it down.  Hopefully it's not as scary after surgery as I feel it is now.
