Coke Zero?
My program strongly suggests no carbonated beverages. It will not stretch the pouch but has the capability of producing gas and discomfort because of the space the bubbles take up. But it does suggest if one really wants a carbonated beverage is to pour into a glass and let the bubbles dissipate before drinking. But who wants to drink a 'flattened' soda?
Coke zero was as close to an addiction as I had before surgery. I have beaten it and not going back there again. There are also some studies that indicate that the phospates in carbonation may inhibit the absorption of calcium. THAT is the last thing I need so have just decided that pop is on my "banned" list and have learned to live without it just fine.

Wow, thank you for all your replies. I really LOVE Coke Zero, to me it's way better tasting than Diet Coke, it will be hard to give it up. All the things I've seen about drinking it flat kind of defeats the purpose, flat soda is really gross.
Some have said that it's the aspartame and fake chemical sugars, but I DO see people constantly posting they are drinking "sugar free" Crystal Light or Koolaid, etc. Those have chemical sweeteners.
Right now, I just really don't like those types of drinks and guess I am addicted to Coke Zero and I also like Diet Mug root beer.
So, I can drink unsweetened tea with lots of Splenda in it, I do like that. But again, here is a chemical sweetener.
My main worry if I get the RNY is about drinking. Not alcohol as I don't drink that. I mean I can only drink so much water and iced tea. I am not a coffee drinker or a hot tea drinker, I don't care for any of those. I worry about becoming dehydrated because I am VERY picky on what I think tastes good as far as drinking.
Yes, I want to be thin more than I want to drink Coke Zero, but again, I am quite worried about not being able to enjoy drinking anything from getting sick and tired of the limitations.
So, what about the sweeteners like Truvia and Xylitol? Are there dumping issues or problems with those natural type sugars?

I use Stevia/Truvia for my tea. When I brew, I add the Truvia during the steeping and always have sweetened tea in the fridge. I love the Truvia but others don't like the taste and I have heard that it causes gas and bloating in some but I have not experienced that.
I also drink OJ just about every morning. I buy the Tropco50 and use 6 oz OJ with 2oz cold water and some crushed ice. I drink 8 oz skim milk at night with no bloating and gas and I use water or skim milk with 2 protein drinks a day. I usually get close to 80 fluid oz a day and the tastes are varied.
good luck.

It's funny.. Before surgery I loved Diet Cherry Coke. Not Cherry Coke Zero, but actual Diet Cherry Coke.
After- I have no desire to even think about it.
I drink Powerade Zero a lot. It's always on sale @ Kroger 10 for $10, has a screw on cap and stays cold in my car (b/c it's 99 below zero outside).
I also drink a ton of water.
Believe me, everything changes after surgery...You'll be amazed at what you don't even think about.

It's not all glitter and rainbows.
One of the classic hotly debated WLS topics...
My surgeon permits occasional sodas after 3-months post-op, but discourages them since they really offer no health benefit and may cause problems with calcium, etc. and may cause you to crave old unhealthy foods that you used to eat while drinking soda.
DO NOT, however, believe the nonsense about carbonation stretching your pouch... the gas will escape via one of the two openings in your pouch (or BOTH) before it will build up enough pressure to cause the pouch to stretch even temporarily.
