Coke Zero?
well, of all I have read is that carbonation really can not stretch the puch, because it is a fluid and goes right through our pouch (we have no pyloric valve after all), so that might be a bit of a mtyh. although a lot of doctor's still sya this.
But what IS a good reason to stay away from it, is that artificial sweeteners and caffeine and some special stuff that is in cola light, will make that you start craving more sweets and carbs. That is what I heard, do not know if that is ture, but sounds logical.
Having said all this, I read this on this board so not from first hadn. My first hand is that my doc says: you can have it, if you can stomach it. Lots of people do not like it or handle it very well after surgery.
I chose not to have it for now.
I was a big time soda pop drinking all of my adult life. You can imagine how shocked I was when the dietitian told my information session group that carbonated beverages, including diet sodas would not be allowed post op!!!
Regardless of the reason, I stopped drinking carbonated beverages a few months before surgery and have not had one in over 2 years.
