****yx-Ectomy
At the OH Conference in Houston, I went to Dr. LoMonaco's presentation. In his presentation he was showing photos and talking about the different plastic surgery procedures. If I remember correctly, and you could call their office or talk to some of the OH organizers who may have heard the presentation, he mentioned/showed a slide where one person had recurring tailbone problems. She was referred to an orthopedic first to have, I believe, the tailbone removed, and then he did her plastics. He made it sound like it was not big deal.
I hope someone who was also there can comment. I remember the comment because I was unaware this procedure even existed.

My Orthopedic specialist believes that I should have something of this nature done... that I should have the tailbone removed, and then I should have a plastic surgeon add some padding by injecting some of my fat from elsewhere into my sad sagging posterior. He says that a little excess fluff back there, combined with the removal of the tailbone, might set me up for life.
Of course I have no idea if the insurance would allow me to have a "butt transplant".... but I'd gladly give up the fat in my panniculus (what is left of it) for this oh-so-noble cause.
I'll mention the plastic surgery to the surgeon when I see him next week.... He can at least comment, and/or make comments about the need, so that perhaps, down the road, I might get a nice panniculectomy and replacement butt out of it.
Who knew, when my butt was big enough to fill a room by itself, how much I'd miss it when it was gone.

I chased my dreams, and my dreams, they caught me!
From a cheerleading mishap in HS, I know my tailbone is cracked but I was told to just keep a cushion to sit on (which I do) and it should be ok. I CANNOT sit on benches or folding chairs or any other hard surfaces for that matter. Since losing weight, it does bother me a lil more but I just bare it.
I won't sit down, even for a moment, without a ****yx cushion. I have one for school, one for home, one for the car. I use a donut pillow on my recliner because the different body position means the donut works better.

Hey there girly. I so understand your pain. Seriously. I've been in constant pain from my tailbone ever since I lost about 50 lbs. as well. I've never had a trauma that I can remember. I tried the shots and failed them. I lived on narcotics for a couple months and decided that I didin't wanna be on narcotics all the time. I have ****yx cushions everywhere. If I'm not on one of those, I'm laying down. At 95 lbs. , my tailbone sticks out far like an actual tail. So gross on top of being super painful. Anyway, they suggested a coxxygectomy to me as well but I'm just so not ready for another surgery yet. I also heard that it doesn't always fix the problem. I don't know how that could be but ooookay. Still, the thought of someone cutting off part of my SPINE terrifies the poopie out of me. My friend, Joe, had his removed a number of years ago after he broke it pretty badly and he said the surgery wasn't that bad. He's a 6'3 muscular high pain tolerance man though. Anyway, I'm not being helpful at all. Sorry honey. I'm just commisserating.
