Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast?

I think you should make sure and talk to him about the diabetes issue.  What will probably work best, though, is to do something like four onces of a protein shake every few hours.  Keep your blood sugar pretty even.

I'm sure you're gonna be hungry.  Sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello and broth all count as liquids so they should help a little.  And I found warm stuff like broth and hot herbal tea to be more satisfying then cold stuff when I was hungry.

I was most definitely hungry.  Honestly, those 9 days were the most difficult of the entire process - surgery & recuperation included.  I'm not diabetic, so I don't know how that will work.  I did have headaches for the first few days on the liquid diet but things improved after day 4.  I kept as busy as possible.  Did anything to keep my mind off food.

Many of us do full liquid 1-2 weeks before surgery but we do something with higher protien.  I did low carb slimfast for 10 days.  After surgery I have had to change the supplements I use because they are too sweet.

There is no such thing as as sugar free carnation instant breakfast.  I am looking at the package of french vanilla no sugar added and it has 8 grams of sugar dry.  Then you add milk and it has 7 or 8 grams of sugar.  Also it has 12 grams of carbs and then milk has carbsin it also.

They usually recommend liquid diet to shrink the liver so that they can lift the liver when doing the surgery.  Most doctors recommend high protien low carb though.  Take the carnation instant breakfast into him and show him th carbs, sugars.  The one I am looking at only has 5 grams of sugar in it.  That is not enough protien!!!!

Thank you Tamara. I have definately wrote down all these questions that I will ask on the 15th. And that explains why my search for  sugar free CIB was unsuccessful. I will buy a pack to show him. I wonder if he even realizes. Guess we will see. Ill have to let you know.

My doc had me do the CIB too.
I thought it would be tough, and it was until day 4 or so then it got easier. I had to do 10 days.
If you look at my profile you will see my thoughts as I went through the process. An abridged version mind you.

My best recommendation is that you stay ahead of the hunger monster!!
Set a schedule and drink your CIB every couple of hours. If you don't and you get hungry, it's all over. It's really tough to come back.

Chewing SF gum was my life saver, I just needed to chew something!!

Good Luck and you CAN and WILL do this!!

I have been on HMR sakes 4-6 a day and clear liquids....popsicles NEVER tasted so good.....LOL
I have been adding to the HMR....sugar free strawberry jello with SF cheesecake pudding....makes strawberry cheesecake....I also add cheesecake SF pudding to Choc and it tastes like cake batter....also use the torani SF syrups- carmel and hazelnut....they are great too......
broth no likin so much- I can tolerate beef but not chicken.....this could be the longest 2 weeks of my life....but it will be worth it.....as long as I don't end up in jail for robbing a Wendys for a burger....LOL
