Severe complication 7 years after RNY surgery
Can say I had a ulcerated area at the connection section of the intestines and the stomach area that created a pouch. That pouch had allowed food to store inside the area at point and the eventually would go down. Once empty the intestines would go in and out into the stomach and cause serve pain. Thankfully we were able to figure it out and it was fixed. However, I still have stomach pains, on a daily bases which is horrible.
Thanks for all the good thoughts and sharing your experiences. I was one of the long term people *****ally gave little thought any more to the surgery...no complications and took all supplements and never touched an aspirin or NSAID. Ate very low fat diet and low sugars because I still dump.
My symptoms were as follows: One week of gastorenteritis (diarrea that resolved with imodium and a course of antibiotics). Fine for a few days and then 6 hours of abdominal bloating, gas ..no worse than other times... and then sudden sharp dramatic abdominal pain, felt hot, which was difuse but mainly above the belly button. I was 20 minutes by car with hubby driving.to ER and was out of my mind with pain by the time I got there.
My current plans are to see my son an his family at Thanksgiving...500 mile drive or 1.5 hour flight with all the attendant airport time. I am terrified to do either. Once I am at their home I know the hospital is close by and they will have my records (another Kaiser hospital) I see my regular doctor on the 7th and the surgeon again on the 11th
Any thoughts anyone?
